Marias Pass X worth it??

Is Marias Pass X worth it? I have the original Marias Pass and loved the route. But is it worth the $25 to get the same route, but with improved scenery, locos, tracks, cars, ect. I want to know what the community has to say!

if you already have it, maybe you don't need the newer one? it is all personal preference, I'm sure... if your version is new enough, maybe take a crack at emailing the content creators, see if you are eligible for free upgrade?

It is most certainly an improvement, that is if you are comparing to the MSTS route, and in this case you are.

In my opinion, the abundance of custom content for the route is what you pay for. The route itself is not well put together in terms of trackwork, terrain, textures, and overall scenery. The wonder of the Marias Pass is based heavily on the scenery, and if HP Trainz is unable to make a strong selling point based on that, then I begin to wonder why the route is payware.

I think it's worth every penny and then some. The content alone was worth it for me.

Having brought it I'm still trying to work out what locos and rolling stock came with it, I think I gave up trying to pick them out in surveyor.

If money is a concern, and you want something more recent that could not possibly be questioned, try the new Donner Pass route from TrainzItalia. If money isn't issue and you like the idea of driving thousands of tons of steel through pine trees, try the less recently released Laggan Sub-division from Roy's Trainz.

That all said, I think others here have said it. The Content is what makes MPX worth the money. I've heard from a few people that live near the actual Marias that there is yet to be a single Route in any Simulator that has done the area justice according to them, but then, living there, maybe they're nitpicking? I wouldn't know as I've never been there.

Either way, won't know for sure unless you buy it. Just tell us your impressions later if you do.

Having traveled in the area from Glacier National Park as far east as Glasgow back in 2012, I'd say they did a pretty good job with their route. I do agree that no train simulator will match what Nature presents us. It was quite amazing to see a train of containers being pulled through the mountain pass down on to the plains. I case you're wondering, I was chasing storms and went to see Glacier on a non-stormy day.

I did look more into the custom content, and from what I saw its worth it. for $25 dollars I can get new locos, cars, rollingstock ect, or $25 dollars I could only get 2 locos from Jointed Rail. It seems to be worth it.

Another plus is the operating aluminium industry that can be used in you other routes

Actually, you could get at least 4 for that price, after tax. But you have to work their system to do it. Or you could drop for a pack and get up to 9 IIRC for that price (Might only be 6 for that price, so used to CCmember prices...).

And for $63 you get what promises to be one of the most stunning routes created for Trainz yet. I don't own it yet, but I will eventually. It looks too good to pass up.
