Manually assigning kuids?

Once again I have managed to shoot myself in the foot. I was moving some assets I had reskinned in 2010 over to TS12 and a couple of the kuids conflicted with items I had created in TS12. I worked around the problem by saving the TS12 assets to a CDP, deleting them, importing the 2010 assets, cloning them, deleting the original imports and then importing the saved TS12 assets back into CM. Since I’m reasonably certain this will happen again, I was wondering if there was a way to manually assign the kuid to an asset, or at least a less cumbersome way of eliminating the conflict. Thanks.
 
Keep every thing you make in TS12 and let CM do the kuids and if TS13(or what ever is next) comes I would use that.
 
Thanks for the response. That's what I'm trying to do. I guess I should have moved things over before I did anything in TS12.
