Actually that's the farm texture and the dark colored texture separates the farm from the ballast of the railroad tracks and the irrigation ditch.

I don't know. I like to use all of my resources. Yes that means farming tendencies from all over the United States. Besides it's impossible for it to be 100% realistic.

They should be put on dirt or grass or gravel. The fields themselves should also be parallel North-South or East-West.
