Making HO Amtrak Cabcar

Hello, all! Well, I have started on a project. I am going to kitbash an Amtrak Cabcar (like the ones they use on the Keystone) from an old Bachmann Metroliner dummy unit and an old Walthers Amfleet I. I will be posting my progress here whenever I make some. And who knows, maybe I'll make one for Trainz after I make this one---but that's in the future.

I've seen it done but can't tell you much about it myself. I know you have to rip out the guts so it's not powered, and the light bar on the roof can come from an Atlas AEM-7.

I've seen some really nice ones (any stainless car for that matter) painted in Alclad Metalizer II. Stuff works great. I just ordered a Proto RDC recently to try it on.

Actually, mine is unpowered, so I don't have to rip any motor parts out. By the light bar do you mean the strobe lights? And I'll try that paint against the one I was planning to use to see which one is best.

You would be better off simply modifying the Bachmann Metroliner, the Amfleets have nothing to do with the cab cars Amtrak uses, they are all old Metroliners

That's exactly what I'm doing, but I am planning to use the diaphragms from HO Amfleets on my cabcar. Thanks for looking!
