Making a new Hornsound with GMAX

Hi all

After all these years I've finally got GMAX as there's a heap of stuff I want to build but I thought I'd start with a few horns for QR rollingstock. I've found tutorials on GMAX but I can't find a tutorial to get me started on this one though. Any suggestions? Thanks

Gmax for sounds? I just use the Windows sound recorder .

P.S: GMAX is not just for making models?

Hi guys

After days and days of trying, I'm nearly at my wit's end with this - I'm simply stuck. I've made a wav file, started a new file on CCP, but don't know what's going on after this. I've read the Content Creator's Guide and it appears to be assuming that the config file includes everything the horn needs. Mine only looks like this:

kuid <kuid:147368:1471>
trainz-build 2.5
category-class "ZH"
category-region "AN"
category-era "1970s;1980s;1990s;2000s;2010s"
username "QR EMU Hornsound"
kind "hornsound"

I believe there should be a heap of other stuff in here but I'm at a loss to find out where to go from here. CCP doesn't let me do anything useful after this.

Not a good start to my creating phase. If anyone can shed some light on this business, it'd be HUGELY appreciated. Thanks. (Sorry to sound angry, but I've realised through this that I'm dumber than I thought).

Sorry, just another question.

Is Audacity just used for creating wav files, or is it needed to get the sound working in Trainz? As I have made the wav file already, no point downloading it unecessarily if possible.

Its just for sound editing, your files should be saved in WAV format, with a frequency of 44.1Khz, 16-bit channel and in mono format.
EDIT, is the engine sound tied to a static object that responds to throttle movements or responds to the movement of the train? (Like a motor?) And have you got TC1&2 for this?

why would you want to do that if you suck at everything else? dont argue its a legible question and will not be misinterpreted

It took the user 2 days to respond to a post, then it took me another 2 days to respond to that post (blame couriers, university, my keyboard and life!).
But bigballa, you have a big history of abuse to others, one day, you will be banned perminately and possibly under various acts, could be done under the law, e.g. computer misuse act (note, I am not a legal expert!!!).

next time, why don't you stop deterring those who want to start with your nasty and vicious comments that do not enhance the situation, but make it far worse. not everyone is a retard, sucker or any other comments that are to be <censored>.

Sorry to everyone else that had to endure that post, but that individual really does take the p and if Auran could find a way to give his hostmask and ip a perm ban, the community and I would be much happier.

Ryan, hows the sounds going at the momnet, are you stuck?

Hi WEN, thanks for the help, sorry about the delayed reply. I don't think the files are in this format. How can I fix this? Thanks

There should be an option button, allowing you to (re)view the options set for the file. Or additionally, you may need to set the paramaters before hand. Its a long time since I have used Audacity, so I can't help you at the monent I am afraid.
I will however, do what my tutors do, encourage you to play with the progam, no, you won't mess anything up!! Just keep a backup of your file, just incase you do something you didn't want to though. :)
