Make your Own Train Company

These reskins are on the DLS, in case anyone was wondering. The Route is still a massive WIP

I don't have any screenshots yet, but my railway is the Cobalt Western. I never build anything without a backstory, so, without further ado...

The Cobalt Western began as a branch of the C&NW in Iowa, running under that banner with R-1 4-6-0s and, later, SD9s, until 1990. Then the line was sold to RailAmerica, who bought the SD9s as the track was still laid with 1922-vintage 90lb rail and crazy light bridges.

However, RailAmerica ran the line terribly, as they didn't care about an Iowa line serving nothing but grain elevators and a few small factories. In 1998, the railway was put up for abandonment, much to the saddness of the local residents of the towns the branch served.

But, it was a large museum that would be the branch's savior. The musuem was mostly a steam museum, but they were led by firebrand steam diehards Stanley Richardson and his grandson, Sawyer Regensberg. They weren't about to see the rails go fallow, so they bought the track for scrap value. it was barely worth $4'000 dollars for some thirty miles of track. Within weeks of the purchase, however, the first trains were running--behind a pair of 2-8-0 consolidations!

Today, the railway has diversified the traffic base, adding ethanol plants, several fuel dealerships, a car-unloading ramp, small intermodal yard, lumber yards, and a passenger service that angers Amcrash (Amtrak) because it's not on their trains. They've used the revenue to restore their steam fleet and use them on common-carrier service on the branch, making the line the last steam common carrier in North America. Mr. Richardson and Mr. Regensberg are open to railfans, and, if asked, will often allow you to jump up in the cab and ride the train. It goes in the face of every ICC law, but, neither of them seem to care:wave:

Yeah, long winded, but still. Route is a WIP right now, and i'm considering releasing it when i'm done, but that's a long way off. barely have one town on it yet!

My railroad oversees rail operations at various areas. Using GP38's, SD40's, and SW7's this railroad operates in a hilly, tropical are. It switchs various yards, ports, and industry through scenic terrain. It also switches in Blue Sky. At the coal mine and the steel mill. It has restored a steam locomotive and passenger cars for a steam program. It's named after famed american explorer Lewis as in Lewis and Clark. Since the railroad princpal operates out west. Yes I'm a history buff. LOL;)

This mainly spawned from me wanting to give the old default "Highland Valley" layout it's own history and whatnot. But I ran away with it.

The Willow Valley Railroad

Soon after making a start in Trainz, I had a go at building (my idea of) an American shortline - inspired by a magazine article and unashamedly using some of the names suggested. Hence the Willow Valley Railroad - which I may now finish by adding the mainline connection, unless it causes Trainzers in the States to laugh too much! Rolling stock are Paint Shed reskins and most of the content is TRS2004 built-in.
