Major Tri State Area Project

Not only the route, the ground textures as well. The route is using those textures. Delete the TransDEM textures (Version 3) again, make sure, "Hardware acceleration" is off, and re-import the TransDEM texture cdp.

Status Updates: There is no pictures this time everyone. Sorry for the long wait but I just brought a FCT to download everything from the dls that I had before so I can start route building. I have been building my Major Tri State Area Project on the new PC for about 2 weeks now. I had tracks laid from Marble Hill to University Heights, and some of the abandoned putnam line by Kingsbridge Road. I also completed the 207th street yard for the NYCTA subway trains and the 1 line from West 207th street to 215th street stations. Earlier, I used an elevated canopy for the elevated subway stations and it seems that messed my whole route up. Now, when I save my progress on the Major Tri State Area Project, Trainz 2010 just freezes. I did an extended database repair but that did not fix anything. So I then went in the config file and it seemed that those canopy's had a build number of 1.3. I changed it to 3.3 and then commited it. That made the canopy's invisible in trainz. Trainz kept on freezing when I saved it which mean't I had to shut down my PC a couple of times. I am hoping I won't have to start rebuilding everything over. I'll try to work on an earlier version of the Major Tri State Area Project. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix the latest version of my route, feel free to make a post. I should just wait until newer elevated subway stations are made or maybe make them myself even though I don't know how to. Pictures will be posted soon once everything get sorted out and some scenery items get placed.

Good news everyone. Last night, I transferred the trainz 2009 local folder from my laptop via 64GB flash drive. Took nearly 4 hours for all trainz 2009 content to transfer to Trainz 2010. I decided to work on my Major Tri State Area Project from around 4 months ago. This is the same one from my last screenshot of the route. For now, I am updating the route trying using more assets since the new computer can handle alot more than my laptop. A screenshot or two will be posted later tonight. I think working on this project with my new gaming desktop will be great.

Here are two screenshots of the Major Tri State Area Project on my new computer. So far, it runs this route between 90 and 200fps at certain points.

Now that I have the route going in Trainz 2010, would anyone know how the Metro North signals work? I started working with triggers for the stations display inside the cab.

I would like to know about the different kinds of signals in the simulator. I am not sure what the rules are with them. Really, I don't know how railroad signals work at all but I think it would be nice to learn about them. I'm still debating whether or not I should put them in the route since this is just Trainz.

As the expression goes, you could write a book on the subject, and several have been. If you're really interested in signaling, Brian Solomon's book Railroad Signaling is a good read. One of the contributors to that book is on this forum, though I haven't seem him around in a while.

Here's a thread that should help. http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?90764-Signalling-Help&highlight=signaling+guide

Search the forums and online to get more info. If you can, find a copy of the NORAC rulebook, and any employee timetable for the line(s) you're modeling. It will help explain the various signals and their aspects. I've got some other information on signaling I can PM to you if you're interested.

Definitely your reskin Drchoi21. That is the Metro North M1 running along the Hudson line. Even though those don't run anymore, I thought I would bring back some memories. Thanks Eboy87 for the thread on railroad signals. Send a PM if you want more on signalling.

Are there any visible differences between the M1 and the M3? To my knowledge, the M2s on the New Haven Line look nearly identical to the M4 and M6 end cars.

According to Wikipedia the difference between the M1 and M3 is, the M3 had different acceleration and braking rates than the M1. According to what I already know, the M1 weighs around 90,000 lbs and the M3 weighs somewhere around 100,000 lbs. For the New Haven line, the M2 has road numbers below 8900. The M4 series has road numbers in the 8900's. The M6 has road numbers above 9000. The M2's are in married pairs. The M4's are in three car sets. The M6 is the last of the cosmopolitans. They have larger windows than the M2 and M4, and they have LED marker lights compared to the older cosmopolitans.

Here is an Amtrak Genesis with some Amtrak Coaches on the Empire Connection in Upper Manhattan near Inwood Hill Park by the Hudson River. Next stop, Yonkers.

Thanks Acelejalde. The name of the tracks that I am using are Jointed Rail's Dark Grey Dirty Tracks. The third rail is the built in Metro North third rails.
