Major Islands Network DLC for TRS22

Creating European Routes
Hello everyone!

You can use this thread to ask questions about the DLC, report issues and discuss about the DLC.

Welcome to fictional Major Islands! Located in Canada, this small island chain is just a few miles out of Cherchago City. The network on the islands is not owned by any company, but by the government itself. The same applies to a coastal Bay Line in the east. As such, many different companies use these tracks to offer their services to the islands, however most of them are handled by MVR. The island chain is located in the Major bay, at the mouth of the Johnson river. The island chain consists of 5 islands, separated into 5 operation areas. Southland, Beaver Cove, North End, Pioneer and Wenatchee. North End is too far from the rest of the islands to have a bridge connection, so all traffic is handled by a ferry. Southland has a ferry connection to the mainland in the west. Wenatchee in the east, has a bridge connection to the MVR Mainline and government Bay Line connecting to Cherchago City and New Penzance.

Excellent route, but... free roam sessions are unplayable, because of this (same on Swedaryn):

Never seen that before!

Can you give more info as to which assets exactly? Given the way trainz handles DLCs, this right here should be impossible. Check if the DLCs have been downloaded and installed correctly. A database repair might also help out.

i have the same issue as above on the Free - roam Sessions. Also, The O1 - Introduction - Tutorial - nothing happens and you cannot do anything except move around???

Can you expand on the freeroam session and let me know which assets the game lists as being problematic? A database repair might also fix any potential issues.

As for the problem on the first session, that is a new one. Have you done any modifications to session rules, drivers or engines used in the DLC? Alternatively it is possible the DLC did not install correctly.

For example: <kuid2:45324:24903:1> JR Invisible Signal Marker. This asset has been updated by JR and downloaded from their website, not the DLS ("Modified" in CM). It looks like all free roam sessions have been set as multiplayer (which doesn't allow "Modified" assets).

That explains the error on your end then. Indeed modified assets can not be used in multiplayer.

There's a simple fix.
Create a single-user session and upload it to the DLS and update the one that's already installed to read Multiplayer Free Drive.

Not really actually. The DLC uses freely available assets from the DLS to work. HPL has installed a different, newer version from a 3rd party website, hence why they are now getting this error about modified/unavailable assets. The only two fixes would to either remove the newer version or disable it. Alternatively wait for the creator to upload this newer version to the DLS, in which case the game will detect it and override it.

Now, normally this fix would work. However after a further check, the asset the game complains about is not required by any asset used in the DLC. I want to investigate further. In your content manager, can you check which asset is that marker part of, and also list of the asset versions? I want to know which asset is actually causing the issue. My best bet is this asset: <kuid2:45324:24900:5> JR Signal Offset , but I would like to confirm the connection.

<kuid2:45324:24900:5> JR Signal Offset is a packaged asset and is now obsolete and has been replaced by <kuid2:45324:24900:6> JR Signal Offset.

If this asset is causing problems, then I would ask N3V for assistance because this appears to be a bug in N3V's versioning system again. We've run into this before, not in DLC mind you, but in routes downloaded from the DLS or installed from 3rd-party websites.
The route is referencing an obsoleted asset. Since this asset is now deprecated and replaced by a new one, it should be automatically replaced in the route by the new version, however, this doesn't occur and the asset will show as a missing dependency.

In your case, the asset was updated and the update was done as a download from the DLS, however, that update is not recognized in the route because it's not seen even though it's there. This also appears to be another bug because the update is there and your route sees this as an asset that's not packaged even though, while technically it isn't, it actually replaces, or obsoletes the referenced version which is.

I'm saying this because there are a number of packaged and DLC (packaged, payware) routes that reference this asset without any problems at all.

<kuid2:506034:100013:2> Legacy of the Burlington Northern v2
<kuid2:605579:100029:11> Lafond Regional Railway
<kuid2:453099:100037:20> C&O Hinton Division
<kuid2:92924:100080:16> Coal Country
<kuid2:92924:101031:8> Datsun Junction MRR
<kuid2:661281:200047:5> Coal Country ( HDT )
<kuid2:605579:100204:11> Industrial Switching
<kuid2:605579:100811:11> Lone Pine Branch
<kuid2:622685:101315:5> Major Islands Network
<kuid2:487560:69000:6> Mojave Sub Division
<kuid2:605579:100446:13> New Haven Industrial Park

It´s because this new version <kuid2:45324:24900:6> is not on the DLS. The older :5 version is on the DLS, therefore that is the newest version DLC and Multiplayer encoder can work with. You could specifically package it as payware to get around the problem of it not being on the DLS, but that is not what´s going on in any of the other routes. Any multiplayer session made or trying to be hosted by someone who has this new version, will result in this error, no matter the route or DLC. This is entirely the problem of having a newer version of an asset, not publically available on the DLS for the game to read and process it.

Furthermore, the fact this error is occuring only on the free roam sessions, and was not caught during beta testing, proves that it is entirely the problem of having a non-DLS asset.

The only two outcomes from this are that you either remove the newer, non-DLS version from your game, or Norfolksouthern37 uploads the newer version of their asset to the DLS and you download it from there.

However after a further check, the asset the game complains about is not required by any asset used in the DLC.
<kuid2:45324:24903:1> JR Invisible Signal Marker is a dependency of <kuid2:45324:24010:6> JR Invisible Signal, which is used in the free roam sessions.
