Hope Creek

Continuing westward...........

Junction with Hope Creek spur...
2_248.jpg

This branch climbs up the bluff at Hope Creek...and loops thru Farmersville area, Bethlehem Twsp., Palmer Twsp...and eventually connects to the Lehigh Valley's North Branch line at Wilson Boro.

It is my understanding that at one time was a small yard and service facility here between the mainline and branch line -- abandoned when all service done at the Bethlehem facility

Excellent use of water ... and those canals are fantasticly realistic looking.

I study the US Canal Period, which for the most part preceded the RR era (@ 1790-1815).

Your screenshots look like actual postcard photographs of yesteryear !

Your questions, discussion

First, would be remiss if did not say "thank you" for all your comments and words of encouragement.

Projects like this can get pretty "labor intensive" - and sometimes a whole lot like WORK.......... so the encouraging words do help.

Your questions:

CSX5220 please please please tell me were to get them locks and the guard locks. thanks in advance

nfitzsimmons Where did you get the horses in the pictures from yesterday's post?

The canal locks, canal boats, and mules are all projects of mine.
Because I work in TRZ 2006 - Auran does not support, so not uploaded to DLS.

Regarding the Alco C628...
Also a project of mine......( for the most part, if you see something you have not seen elsewhere - odds are I made it for myself ).
This is not yet "finished"....as it only has a simple cab interior - simple controls only......what I call a " Fisher-Price" cab.
Making a complex, drivable cab interior is a TON of work, and a lot I need to learn before attempting - and since there are other locos I want to make, will probably do their interiors all at the same time.

In any event, as above, NOT available on DLS since I am using TRZ 2006.

Zorronov Nice use of road signs too

JJDella Can you please tell me the road speed sign that displays 35mph??

Again - the signs are my own projects.

roadsigns.jpg

I have written scripts for all the signs.
The advantages of this are that:
1. instead of a dozen different objects listed in my surveyor objects - there is just one sign.......and by editing it's properties, I select what I want. So this reduces the "clutter" there.

2. For the signs with "names".....the scripting allows for more than just one name.

3. Also, the "named" objects, they do NOT show up on the "minimap" as named locations - so don't have that clutter either.

city_signs.jpg

Again, I scripted these so can select what direction the arrows point, what names to display, and optionally display various Civic organizations (or not).
Same concept - one sign, instead of a bunch of different ones every time I need to use.

As far as uploading the route:

Frankly, I don't think it will happen - because of several issues.

Biggest issue is that, again, Auran has decided that 2006 content is not wanted... so you can "thank" them for that.

Another big problem - is that I am the type that does not leave things alone........I alter EVERYTHING......and I do mean everything, to get the look I want, or to try to improve upon an item.
the result of this is that - even if uploaded, the route that YOU wind-up with will NOT look like mine because you will not have the "altered" versions of all these assets.

Here is a good example:

There is a chainlink fence - I think it was "built-in" content with 2006. which I altered.

fences.jpg

the original on the left, to me, looks almost like a basket - so I changed it (middle), and since I was working on it, made a rusty version too (right).

The upshot of all of this is - I have done this sort of thing repeatedly, on nearly everything........and I really am not about to chase after hundreds of people for permission to release an altered version of their creations. - just being honest.

sawyer811 What blows me away even more is the level of detail you have been able to get out of the older SP3 content. the detail on the CNJ GP-9 and the LV C420 (both seen earlier in the thread) makes my jaw drop. It's amazing considering i have versions of the same models in my game and they look nothing like that.

Yes, despite Auran's rejection of the older content - much of it can be given new life by just a little re-painting. (the fence above perfect example).

Also, before there were thousands of you guys out there making content......much I which I would find usable on my route with just a little touching-up.
Now, everytime I need something - pretty much have to make it for myself...... more labor intensive route building, more time-consuming process.

So.......
Most likely won't see another update for some time - as I move on to the next "phase" of this construction.

Thanks again for your comments, encouragement, and friendship.

dang nabbit

The utilization of signs and such that you have come up with is really impressive. Also regarding the locks, they are perfect for the the project you are working on. Custom content is the best. Keep up the great work.

Best Regards
Mike S.

Thanks for your update letting us know about your route. I was considering getting another copy of Trainz 2006 after I put it in the trash when I bought Trainz 12. Your explanation explains in a friendly manner why we wont see it available for the general masses which is a bit sad but understandable. However it will no doubt inspire many others to show what is achievable when one puts ones mind to such a project. Just looking at the great screenshots is a pleasure and as someone else said it is a true work of art. Look forward to watching you progress this magnum opus.
Peter

I love what you do in 06.
For myself, 06 was the best so far.
:)
I dont know if you have overread my question, so I ask it again:
are you planning to extend it through the "gap"?

Keep those screenshots comming, they rule!
Cheers from germany.

Same here. Whatever it takes to get that perfect look.

I've modified sooo many things to get what I want.

Cheers,
Joshua
