Lost my route on upgrading!

Fairly new to TRS 2006 and am now waiting for 2009. I have recently found this forum and wish I new about it sooner!
updated my prog. with SP1 and the patch to another build nubere and subsequently lost my route that I was building, after a lot of work. Found a folder where I thought it should be so put that into that place, according to some info on this forum (or so I thought!) Maybe I had not moved the correct folder. When I came to run my route discovered that not only was there no drivers available in any of the sesson routes but my line was not available. Re installed the original and the drivers returned but not my creation! Am very nervous now about starting a new route in 2006 as I may lose it when I upgrade to 2009. Any suggestions here to avoid this disaster happening again please.

Keep the route

Hi - It happens! A lot of people have had the same problem. When it's gone ....

However.... If you go into your drive letter where Trainz is stored and open the Auran folder you will find a folder in there called "Local". It will be quite large but all your important stuff is on there. Copy that to another drive/cd/memory stick etc.

If you have to reinstall trainz at any time then you can copy the folder back again - but - you need to rename the backed up folder as say "local backup". CMP can see your new local folder and you can tell it to import from the old backup. That way it only imports things it does not already have without simply overwriting the new folder.

There is also an "archive" tag in CMP (lower left hand side on the main screen) and this will give the chance to back up your routes. Select "all" or tick the boxes for the routes you want.

I would suggest you copy and paste this into word or notepad and print it out. You might need to remember how to fix hings one day.
Hope this helps but feel free to come back with any questions.
Regards Doug
