lost forum

Um I was looking for the trainz forum. Obviously this is it. There's lots of complaints.

Thats all that Games people seem to do. There is nothing wrong with the Forum, slightly different that's all. I think speed is up to scratch. Wish you all would look on the bright side for a change

Using Firefox, and No-Squint add-on ... I now have absolutely no complaints ... aside from the silly looking blue/pink slice of bread/envelopes icons (which are distracting).

Well, to summarise it in the most simplist form...

It was "old".

Personally, I was fine with it. However it did lack certain features that were comparable to todays forums. However, in saying that, I personally believe that the trade off for some other things that we loved was not entirely worth it. N3V says they are tweaking the system until everyone is happy. Good enough for me. :)

Hi,
Being new to this site I will try to be unbiased, I have an older PC and a virginmedia FO connection which is not all it is cracked up to be, My opinion for what it is worth.
1) The shades of blue are offputting, I think not distinct enough. and make your eyes hurt.

2) speed wise I have not noticed any change.

Otherwise I would just say that to change everything is not always for the best as people have to get used to the new which is irritating when to us all seemed to work fine anyway, It is OK to update the speed etc but why mess with the user end?

Regards GG

HMMM but you must admit, it's different. By the way, what was wrong with the old forum?

At least part of the problem was that they were running an old, insecure version of the vBulletin forum software. I suspect that's why the forums had the spam problems the last couple months; it could have been much worse, however. I've been a member of other boards running that vintage vBulletin, and the hackers and crackers simply had a field day with it.

Unfortunately, the search functionality of the newer versions of vBulletin never really worked correctly and there are a lot of very important features missing, such as showing what registered versions of Trainz a poster has. I hope N3V/Auran fixes these promptly.

Best explanation I have read all day, the spamming was becoming problematic.

AH thank you RRsignal. As ed says, spam is more than enough reason to upgrade. I'm just pleased that N3V keep this whole thing alive. It must seem disappointing to them sometimes when their work is not appreciated. I can,t imagine life without trainz. At the moment, I'm trying to give up smoking. I find if I jump on trainz (or my keyboard) I can forget coffin nails for a couple of hours.

Lol, you're welcome, been there and done that! Ironically, by far the hardest time I had quitting smoking was using the patch. But I quit cold-turkey this time and it's been 2.5 years.

Good luck. You're finding that the Trainz addiction replaces the nicotine addiction! :) lol

Ah, brothers in arms! Unfortunately for me Trainz + coffee (or beer)= smokes! I feel for you, and wish you the best in your endeavor!
