loss of locomotives

hi JCitron.
i pretty much have all of the dependencies in a separate folder. one thing that bothered me, it shouldn't, was the ditch lights with the 5 prefix and the one on jr site with the number 7. newer version. whatever it worked. the problem i see is the newer depends and knowing when a new one is installed. another ting is the CSX GE ac6000 was not bothered. i had them the whole time.
as far as the repair guy is concerned i have two external hard drives (500 gbs each and that really saved my bacon.
i had to start the rebuild of routes. unfortunately i like big routes.
this morning i still have everything and my grandson almost 4 have been running trainz or watching trains on you tube.
i hope this is over most of the answers were really helpful, while some not so much.

someone mad a comment about open for edit(ALWAYS). i also rebuild database pretty often since re doing routes move a lot of assets.

I would install any and all updates that are available. These fix various problems with earlier versions and also N3V made changes that affected the locomotives and Jointed Rail updated those to reflect the changes. In the past, I have run into missing dependencies after N3V updated Trainz and found many updated assets in the Content Store as well. Installing the updates fixed the missing dependency problem. In the end, I would check here first and if that doesn't do it, I would open up Content Manager and change to the Open for Edit screen then bring that whole folder of CDPs into Content Manager.

If there are any assets leftover that are open for edit highlight them all (select one and press CTRL+A), and revert those to original. Once reverted, check for missing dependencies.

I'm glad you had backups of content. It sounds like you've got your grandson trained already. ;-)

my first JR engine was his ge c30-7. i have always bought his stuff and a few rrmods. i wanted the ge c4400 CSX and jr was gong to make it but it never happened. it is always the same four assets that is ruining my day. the one that really gets me is the diesel fuel. can't download it even though it is basically in all his engines and a lot of routes.
i'm pretty sure i have all the dependencies and you would think they would help?
thanks any way i'm going to find something else to do for a wile. my blood pressure isn't very good and i need to tend to that problem

Look, I have first hand experience with buying and using JointedRail content and RRmods content. Every asset depends on other assets and most of the time, when something was highlighted in red, it was because I didn't download all of the required dependencies.

How come it shows it when i got to Send a Help Desk Support Ticket ON JOINTEDRAIL Website that I need a Club Car membership inorder to ask for help with an item... Tried it 6 years ago and Gave UP!

If you go on JointedRail's website and claim that you need a Club Car Membership to ask for help, and someone else logs in and says the opposite, then you're bullshitting. I've logged in several times, and the bs claims you have made are undoubtedly incorrect and misinformative.

That is one I haven’t thought of. The thing is, it’s hard to understand what he did to make things even worse, as he claims:

1. He is missing four odd assets. They’re Diesel Fuel, Engine Sand (loads which should be part of the base game), Ditchlights (by that maybe he means the script is faulty?), and EMD 48” 10 Fans.
2. He changed his email, so his JR account is lost I believe?
3. He bought the items twice, trying to reinstall them.
4. He downloaded several routes, trying to get the missing dependencies.

What is your opinion John? This has been making my head spin.

I'm not John and I hate to jump to conclusions, but I really feel like he has a pirated version of the game. I haven't encountered something like this ever.

OP also didn't give a detailed description of the issues that he's having OR tell us what Trainz installment he's playing on and the version of said installment. I feel like he has a pirated copy and won't say it. I could most certainly be wrong, but I launched Trainz 2022 and went to Manage Content.

Engine Sand and Ditchlight by norfolksouthern37 are both built-in, EMD 48in 10 Blade Fan by norfolksouthern37 comes with a lot of dlc and I know that assets comes with JointedRail Locos (not sure how many though), and Diesel Fuel by Auran is obviously built-in. Not one of these assets are broken, missing or have suffered some terrible accident that would cause them to stop working and break any JointedRail locomotive reliant on them.

Here are the possibilities that I am thinking:
-OP has a pirated version of the game and won't say
-OP is trying to stirr trouble
-OP is trying to turn ruin JointedRail's reputation
-OP forgot to take his medications again
-OP did something OP shouldn't have done and messed up stuff as a result.
-There's a legitimate issue with his Trainz copy that hasn't been mentioned or reported yet (I highly doubt this)

Either way, OP needs to get his shit together and take the advice he's given, because just from his grammar and bad punctuation alone, he's definitely fucked something up and broke a lot of assets in the process. Again, I could be wrong, but I just got that feeling that one or several of the things I mentioned has a check on it.

Not necessarily. It could be that some of the installs got messed up due to assets being loaded from elsewhere such as having built-in or DLC assets installed with some other similar models coming from JR's website and doing weird things, which sometimes happens with the Trainz database.

Whenever I install new content from Jointed Rail or anywhere else for that matter other than the DLS, I always open up the Open for Edit filter in Content Manager. This ensures that I can see what's going to be left open for edit and after installing everything I'll then revert the open for edit assets.

That could have been the case. It's why you're supposed to download American Intermodal before you download and install Tidewater Point Railroad.
