Looking for good reskin tutorials

I am really wanting to reskin some locomotives for personal use, and was wondering if someone would either make a tutorial for me, or show me to one that already exists. I would like the tutorial to be step by step, because I haven't approached making reskins until now.

Locos are much the same find the texture file then edit.

I know how to do everything now, except how you open the file into gimp, and by the way, I use TS12 and Windows 8

Thanks guys. I got the hang of it and "patched" Logman's CNW Dash 9, but I came across these errors when I committed it:
Error: The texture 'cnw_dash9_body/map1.tga' failed to load.
Error: The texture 'cnw_dash9_body/map2.tga' failed to load.

Check the file sizes you probably have them compressed.
