Looking for a Trainz Tutor

Hobo_Al

Trainz addict
Is there anyone out there who would be willing to answer my Trainz questions, using private messaging?

I think that if I hook up with one or two folks privately, then I won't need to bombard the forum with my many questions.
I wish I had a budget for paying you. Hopefully your payment will be in the satisfaction of helping a fellow Trainz nut.

Thanks,
Al

I can understand your seeking specific help, but I can't understand why you wouldn't ask your questions on the forums. The answers would benefit many more people.

I have learned a heck of a lot about this game by reading other peoples questions/answers as well as asking my own questions. :)

It's one of the biggest reasons why forums exist - to ask for help and share knowledge.

Could not agree more.. The forums are maybe your best friend in general.

But PM have their place too. helian 43

I agree with the above two comments. Go public. Then everybody learns. Even us veterans don't know it all so every question and answer helps us too.

I totally understand. So, here's what I'm going to do: If my private messaging with a tutor works out, I will post everything I'm learning to the forum. If it doesn't work out, I will post all my questions to the forum. I also plan on creating a guide-book for basic/intermediate Trainz understanding and will publish it to an appropriate location.

Thanks,
Al

P.S. philskene, I just downloaded your Lilliput Logger route. It's very cute! And I can put trains on it and run them, but I don't yet know how to create interactive sessions, with session information, objectives, etc.
What I'm looking for are routes with sessions that have session information, objectives, etc.

No. If you uncover something that needs to be made available to the community create a How To guide using the model that is already available and add it to the list.

That way it can be enhanced as required by anyone who has additional detail. Only the original author can modify a forum post, so it is not suitable for this material.

This webpage was made public today: https://contentcreation.trainzsimulator.com/ Lots of the tutorials target new stuff for TANE/TRS19 but there is a video on creating a session.

But I agree with others about posting questions here. We learn from each other. Don't get fussed if you think you have a dumb question. Just about every question you can imagine has been asked here although finding the answer in the forums can be a challenge.

Oh, 10-4, Paul. Figuring out the correct search term can be frustrating but when you hit gold, the results are most satisfying. As an example, I lucked out and got the term right on the Content Creation Support forum and found out how to correct the inverted normal problem I was having with gmax. All the info was in the program on how to fix the normals but finding it was very difficult. But the help from the threads on the forum zeroed in on exactly how to work the solution.

Take care and good luck Hobo. These guys on the forums are great help.
