Looking for a solution ( Pylon - wire - catenary etc ... )?

Hello,

I'm busy with a tram line and within the route there is also a train section.

If you have a look at the picture ( I created it in a hurry simply to show the situation )

belgian46_ 25kv easy 2v1pENTVirDR.jpg

Within the tram section I have chosen to use a certain pylon+wire+etc .. asset ( 25kv easy 2v 1pENT Virdr/ga ) which was created by Globule.

This asset permits me to place the pylon in a faster way ( in combination with Transdem ).

But now I have a problem. Sometimes the track turns to the left ( like within the picture ) or right.

I don't find a solution which gives me the oppertunity to leave the South-North direction and turn to the left ( or right ) and continue with the placement of a pylon ( wire etc included ) which is connected to the 25kv easy 2v 1pENT Virdr/ga spline.

Does anyone have any idea how to make the connection? Or do you have any solution for me?

Thank you

Best regards

Kurt

Ps I have also placed the thread in French within the French forum section ( the creator of the asset is Globule ( Frenchman ).

Hi,

Go into Surveyor, go to the Tracks tab (F4). Click on that button with the white bend line and the red straight line (3rd one at the bottom of the normal menu). Now click on the piece of track you want to have straight.
To undo, do the same thing again.

Hello oknotsen,

Thank you for answering. I know, I created the situation in a hurry and didn't straighten the tracks. But straightening the tracks has nothing to do with my problem.

Then I am either misunderstanding your question or you are misunderstanding my comment.
The straighten tool also works on none-track splines, like that "pylon-wire" spline you are using.

I think what belgian wants to say is: the tracks are only an example of how a line will diverge (therefore, ignore the straighten) and he wants to know how he can make the catenary diverge in a prototypical manner.

I would like to connect the green pylon with the red pylon. What are my possibilities to get a perfect result ( which is the tram/train goes left and the pantograph is still connected to the wire ).

Hello nicky9499,

Thank you for your reply. Prototypical manner - yes please.

So do the same thing with the pylons spline as you are doing with the tracks: Make a "junction". Then use the straighten tool on the wire and you should have a similar effect.
Try it; maybe my words make more sense after that :).

When you place the pylon spline make sure you have a spline point at the same location as the track spline points. On the diverge start the pylon spline from the first track spline after the split. You should have wire only (at least the uk one has) which you use to connect the two sets of pylons.

Hello oknotsen,

Thank you for the extra information. Tried it and yes your reply in post 2 makes more sense. :)

Hello Keith,

Thank you for your answer. Your extra info, together with oknotsen's reply made it possible to connect the "green" and " red" pylon.

In this case, a wire only was not necessary. A wire only has also been created by Globule.

ps. I still have to send you a PM concerning Boat's tools ( ATLS ) with Ben Dorsey's bridges. I had some trouble finding some kind of solution with the placement of some bridges in combination with a lock ( ships ).

Best regards
