logging conumdrum

A little advice please, chaps
I have downloaded a forestry activity to my layout
1. I have a bogie bolster wagon that I have set in commodities picker to accept logs. At the forestry activity it shows the wagon loaded with a log - but it cannot be seen on the wagon [whereas loading a coal wagon clearly shows it full of the black stuff]
2. I have downloaded BR OTA log wagons - which say in the download station are "loadable". Running them to the forestry activity won't load them nor will the commodities picker set them for logs.
Any advice greatly accepted
p.s. are there any other wagons that can be set to accept logs - I can't seem to fing any

logging wagons

You may have to do a little searching, but I have found numerous cars that will accept logs as cargo in the DLS. You didn't say what version of trains you are running nor what location or era you are trying to reproduce. I have had problems with a couple generic flat cars (wagons) not placing the logs in the expected placement. Some flats are simply not set up to carry logs and to do so apparently (by my understanding) requires setting the correct attachment points in the graphic parts, some times called the mesh, of the car's file. Stick it out and look on the DLS as the is quite a bit of content to look through.

I am running Trainz 2006. I am not too bothered about periods - I just run what takes my fancy as long as it is UK based - that will upset the purists!!
Just had a look at the bogie bolster in question and discovered that it is not a UK item - but a smaller than standard gauge one from QR - which ever company that is. I will have a look for better wagons

Hi emmaroyd (great name!). Isnt there a wagon pre installed in TRS06 called 'Log Wagon'? I think that this accepts logs from the forestry industry. As far as adding logs to bolster wagons, the wagon's config text file will have to be set up with the kuid number for a log load for the load to be visible.

Hi emmaroyd,

If you load a log car with the wrong type of logs you could run into trouble with the attachment points. I think the better way is to open the config file and take a note of the kuid number for the logs it loads, then check the config file of the forestry industry to see if it produces the same logs. If the logs produced are invisible you could then change the kuid number for the logs the industry produces. If the production is not invisible i.e. is animated then I would look for another log industry. If you post the kuid number of the log industry and of the bolster wagon I will have a look to see what is compatible.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your replies.
It's a new one - we have the wrong type of leaves or the wrong type of snow to cause rail disruption - but the wrong type of logs!!!
Being a senior and computer dumb Yorkshireman you have lost me!!
Config files - where do I find these
I have found the log wagon - thanks. Will now see what happens

Hi Tony,

Here are some pics of the Auran default log wagon with different types of logs loaded.

logs1-1.jpg

These are the default logs produced by the builtin forestry industry.

logs2-1.jpg

These are 32ft. logs, they are more of a load but would work ok.

logs3-1.jpg

These are 40ft. logs, too long for the wagon as they overhang at both ends.

Cheers,
