Local sounds and global sounds

Is there such a thing as a AI local sound as apposed to a global sound. The only driver command sounds I've come across can be heard from one end of the layout to the other. When the guards whistle in Peterborough can be heard in York it seems a bit unrealistic.

The only thing you can do is install RTS tracksounds, or another tracksound ... or put the line: -disablerailjointsound in the trainzoptions file

Donecha' just love it ... hearing a train 100 miles away, and too having such horrid unrealistic tracksounds ? :hehe:

Are you using the play sound rule or the play sound command?

I'm using Pitkin's play a sound command 121843:90031 are there local sound scripts?
