Loaded up my route, and everything is gone, help!

Hi, when I went to load up my route I'm working on, everything but the baseboards and textures are gone.

I'm thinking this has something to do with layers, I tried merging the route and session layers, and nothing happened. Can someone help me fix this? Thanks.

do you think you may have hit the wrong button by mistake? I feel that the delete button should have a warning sign. but I don't think it has, I would normally check this out for you myself but my copy is on the fritz at the moment.

Hello emeraldnight123,

In what version of Trainz is your route?

+/- 2 weeks ago, I had the phenemenon that 3/4 of the route was gone. Closed TRS10 and 10 minutes later, restarted it.
Everthing was back.

Within my route in TS12, after a 5 hour changing - I wanted to check the route. Noticed here, that some assets and splines were gone.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find the full route when checking the backup folder.

I had to remake a part of my 5 hour change.

Best regards

Kurt

My route is in TS12, I merged the route and session layers to try and get rid of a ghost consist that I put down earlier, that worked. I then closed my trainz and came back an hour or so later, loaded up my route, and everything was gone. I guess it's time to make a new map, I don't feel like rebuilding everything.

the next time you have a ghost consist, lay two wagons ether side of it and make sure they are coupled to the ghost consist, then delete the whole consist from the consist tab.

The things that are in my backup folder are the config, mapfile.bmk, mapfile.gnd, mapfile.lyr, mapfile.obs, mapfile, rlr, mapfile.trc, mapfile.trk, and the thumbnail.

What you want to do is go into CMP, and import this backup back into Trainz by choosing the import content from the file menu, then browsing in the window to this folder, and choosing import. If this doesn't work, you may have to delete your faulty route first.

I have recovered a route I was working on recently using this method.

This could happen at least in earlier versions if you saved (for example) the basic Transdem or HOG created route files in the User Data folder. I had that happen at least once where I lost a route I was working on when TS2010 (I think) for some unfathomable reason decided to overwrite my WIP route with the bare data.

Lesson learned... I now do any Transdem extractions to a seperate location on my HD (usually a sub-folder in My Documents) and import via CMP from there, which precludes Trainz unintentionally overwriting with the raw version.

Not saying that's necessarily the issue here, but something to watch out for.
