Llangollen Railway Layout

Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone out there has or is, or even thought about building a Llangollen Railway Layout?

Thanks,

Rob

Well, well, well! This was my first post in the forum! It's only taken just over 4 years to get a reply - Thanks.

I have to say that I've got no further on with the layout due to rapidly waning enthusiasm for it.

I wish you the best of luck with your efforts. Please do keep us posted.

Rob.

P.S. I am very sorry it took so long to get a reply. I always wanted to see a Llangollen Railway route on Trainz as well. Screenshots coming soon - I am almost done with the Llangollen statin and engine sheds.

ONE MORE THING! The route isn't gonna be to complete scale. I have Trainz open in a non-fullscreen window so I can look at Google Earth for the track and buildings. I promise that I will do my absolute best to get the route done.

I look forward to seeing some screenshots, and further to actually downloading the layout. I may even ressurect my efforts and try to complete it (doubtful though!)

Rob.

Thanks.

I think your layout is bit further advanced than mine! I remember having difficulty in finding a bridge asset that looked similar to the road bridge over the River Dee, I think that's what put me off from continuing with the layout. I hope you keep at it and keep posting shots of your progress, it's early days but it looks quite good so far.

Rob.

I'm glad you like it. I used the Stone bridge w/no track. It is a built in track item. Also, I have a question 4 you. What is ur favorite engine on the Llangollen Railway?

You are probably aware that tools exist to bridge the gap between geo data sources and Trainz. We also have more geo data sources, not just Google Earth, and including historic data, to help with route projects like yours.

Looking forward to seeing screenshots of your up-and-coming Llangollen Railway, npmelanc.

Point of interest, whilst on holiday in North Wales some years ago I have travelled on both the Llangollen Railway and on the Snowdon Mountain Railway.... Wondering if anyone is building or has built the Snowdon Railway on Trainz? My own route based upon the former G.E.R branch line (1847 - 1968) across the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk Fenlands is nicely coming along now.

Andy.

Probably this old stalwart of the Llangollen Railway:

The 5643 is a gallant engine. Oh, have you seen videos of the SSS2 Cavalcade, where 5643 blew its whistle in that funny way? Like that beet you here at sports games. And then the 6430, 5199 and 44801 joined in. BTW fen_tiger, if you look at the first page of the forum there are some screenshots of Llangollen station and yard.
