Live Steam and Large Scale Railroading

Oh, no probs, I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, just referring everyone to the old thread in-case they are interested, the more threads the merrier, we can never have to much talk about Live Steam:D

Tom:p

You've got that right. Live steam is life. And don't worry, I didn't think you were being rude, and I'm sorry if my response seemed like I was being rude.

On a side note, have you ever heard of Train Mountain in Oregon? It's the largest live steam (7.5 inch) in the world. I've been there once and its breathtaking. There is over twenty-seven miles of track through deciduous (I think its deciduous, I'm not sure. There are a lot of aspen trees) forest. There are little towns and buildings built to 1.5" scale all over the railroad. And, to top it off, they are still expanding the railroad. Their master plan is to nearly triple the size of the railroad in the next ten years or so. And they've got the money. The guy who started it all is putting something like 15 million dollars into the railroad. It's incredible.

:p When I'm 22 and have more then enough to live on I'll consider buying a steam loco, and passenger car. Then I'll move to Oregon!

Ever since I heard of Train Mountain on TV I sorta fell in love with it.

Allen Model! I love those. I've seen quite a few at my club- mostly Moguls- and they are incredible locomotives. They're beautiful and they run great at the same time. I actually have met Gene Allen when I went to the Gollida Live Steamers about a year ago. He's a very nice guy; very intelligent.

For those of you who are a little too far away from Riverside to come and ride the trains, here's a link to a Youtube video one of our members took.

It's a little weird and it isn't well done. Why they used stills during the derailment still baffles me. But, at least you get to see the RLS.

Got a new live steam engine, though it's a whole different gauge. It's a 1 scale (G scale) 0-4-0 engine called Ida. It burns butane and boils water, so it is officially a steam engine. Putting in a small loop in a raised garden in our backyard for it to run on. It has six ore cars, and the whole set was actually pretty cheap, despite the fact that everything in it was of incredible quality.
