Lindsay to Shores

About 40 to 50 years ago, there was a line which ran from Lindsay, VA to Shores on the James River. Trains stopped running on this line when I was a small child and the track was eventually removed. You can still see the old road bed in Google earth or google maps. Buckingham Branch now controls the track running from Gordonsville, through Lindsay to Charlottesville and points west. CSX controls the tracks which run along the James River from Richmond to Lynchburg, VA. Shores is a switching area just west of where the BBRR intersects with the CSX line at Bremo. I am going to slowly try to reconstruct the line running from Lindsay to Shores. It should be about 60 boards long and there is no industry along the route so I might have to be inventive.

Here is the first board.

The rails running toward the top right is headed to Gordonsville and to the bottom left, toward Charlottesville. The line branching off to the lower right is the route I will be working on. Wish me luck...

This new Burlington Northern may not be found in Virginia but I think it looks good in this setting. It comes from WOT.

I don't know why I even bother to waste my time posting these but maybe someone will get a little enjoyment.

Nice shots Skidmark!! I'm really liking the fields and late fall look...(if it is late fall xD) It looks like you've dedicated lots of time to make this route look the way it does now. I'm liking the motive power too.

Well thanks cam. I was beginning to think that all my work was going pretty much unnoticed. Don't get me wrong, I am not looking for praise (although that is nice) but more along the lines of "FEEDBACK". Having more of a background in the aviation world, I am still not all that comfortable nor confident in the trainz world. I still haven't gotten any comments about the Buckingham Branch route I uploaded so I have no idea if my first attempt at route building is decent or if it sucks. (The link is in the last post in that thread) I am sure it has a lot of stuff wrong but I have no idea what. How can I learn from my mistakes if I have no idea what they are?

As far as this route goes, I am running out of ideas with 50 more boards to go. All there is along this route is some wood loading yards. It is all woodland and farms. I do have a concern about putting crops into a fall theme but ding, I have to do something. So far, I have not been able to find any dried corn splines or any other crops other than wheat, rasberrys, cabbage (and some clover splines)

The motive power should be all C&O because that was what ran these rails when the line was in use back over 50 years ago. Mostly hauling pulp wood from woodyards along the line. When my father was young, he hauled many cords of pulp wood to the Troy, Va yard. That was how he made his living back then.

Again, thanks for the comments, they are greatly appreciated.
