Lets predict Trainz 2011

I predict that N3V will be purchased by Steam, and Trainz will merge with Railworks. That would be a win-win situation for us, the players. We would get the best of both sides of the track :hehe:

Trainz 2012

Auran should take a year to fix the problems, delete the old 2d content and replace it with wonderful 3d objects, and finally they should put extra software, with or without the game whatever floats there boat, for the simple creation of objects for the game such as background buildings with a decent amount of detail.

A truly black day in the simworld when Steam decides if I can play the game I purchased on my computer. :'(

I predict that they will remove the totally useless Engineers seat (that always gets in the way, even when using -freeintcam).

And will put in a Emergency Brake-Keypad command.

You do know that you can change the key bindings yourself and even enable several features that aren't enabled by default (for example, self-lapped brakes, 'neutral' reverser position) by editing UserData\Settings\keyboard.txt

The format is self-explanatory mostly, but the line to change would be:

Code:
  train_cabin_emergency_stop alt 9
probably setting it to something like:
Code:
  train_cabin_emergency_stop alt 9, KPplus

Edit: bear in mind that if you do edit it onto keypad+ like that, you'll want to remove the horn mapping for keypad+

Is it a fact that you are unable to play Railworks if Steam is off-line or for some reason you cannot log onto your account? That is the impression I got, but then I've only owned "the rights to play" that game for a day and a half.

I am mostly interested in Railworks for simple, relaxing driving sessions. I do not really think I will ever create anything in that game.
I still love Trainz, for all its flaws, it remains the best RR sim, and the most intuitive to work with.
I never had to read a tutorial or Wiki to start creating routes in Trainz!

As I drive in CAB Mode, I edited the train_cabin_brake_emergency Pause to read: train_cabin_brake_emergency alt 9 and indeed it applys the emergency brake.

Now how do I remove the engineers seat from the cab, or make the seat invisible ?

If they were SMART they would strike a deal and license TransDem and incorporate it into the next trainz...

That's an issue you need to bring up with whoever's locomotives you use - or more precisely whoever's cabs you use. As the seat will be part of the interior mesh.

If you tend to drive a common set of locomotives - say all SD40-2s, then you could maybe find a cab that lacks the seat and replace the cab kuid for the locomotives you use with that new cab, alternatively, you'll need to find someone willing to make you a cab(s) without a seat.

At this stage in the game, I suspect this request is way beyond being Auran's responsibility though - they really don't make much in the way of content anymore, so any content that comes with TS2011/TS2012/whatever will likely need the content creators to decide if the engineer's seat is as annoying to them as it is to you.

You've done the ECML, now how about the WCML (well a section of it hehe, its big enough to cause a few computer heart attacks)

If TRS2011 going to come out, I won't buy it and going to get Railworks, at least they are not forcing down on my throat to buy every version what will have a best before date. Auran could learn something from them, that if they would properly set out the marketing they could be as successful as Railworks is, so far, these version fail.

wow, less than six months in and 7 posts and you're ready to go to a place where updates are forced on your system, ruining any of your carefully balanced modifications unless you take extraordinary measures to protect them. When you're disappointed, don't bother making a similar statement over there, they don''t like criticism.

Depends on your definition of successful. I hope Auran never gets so low.

under the hood

I think TS2011 will look the same, but with under the hood improvments.

So that would means that little to no improments, visually (trainz is what the creators and you make of it, so I guess it's your responsibility to keep creating content that look good).

But instead, they would work on under the hood things, such as vehicle physics and other stuff as well as expand on multiplayer.

Think aobut it, since when did auran change the look of their game visually?

But, there's all sorts of under the hood things that creators can work with.

but really, I do think removing compatibility mode will redund many of the built-in assets, I think it's too early to remove it at this stage auran. ;-)

Wish List

I have a somewhat powerful desktop and heaps of memory used for photoshop. High definition 26 inch monitor. To relax in the evening I like playing with trainz.

What I'l like to see is a 64 bit version of trainz to take advantage of the multiple CPU's and memory. What stops me relaxing with trainz is the frustrating signalling rule. I use basically QLD types one day I'll figure it out.

The existing latest versions of Trainz, such as TS2010, are fully compatible and actually work excellent on 64-bit operating systems. ;) Many of the users around here use TS2010 on a 64-bit system. ;)

Your version of Trainz, TRS2004, may not be this way (and I actually think that it does not like running in a 64-bit environment, from what I have read around here ;)). Any way, there are still a few TRS2004 users around here (including me), although they are a dying breed. :o ;)

Any way, welcome to the forums!

Regards.

I actually have TS2010. I'm not sure how well it exploits the 64bit O/S. I have not tried to but, only seems to use one CPU. Also not sure how much of the available 12gb of memory it used.

My be a free update like Railworks:p

I hope not, the RW->RW2 update consisted of less bug fixes and changes than a typical Auran SP, and was nothing more than a blatent grab for attention of the form of 'look, we're giving away a (implied: major) update!!'.

Meanwhile, a new version from Auran is likely to feature some significant changes worthy of actually spending money on (can you imagine if they had actually charged for the fisher-price HUD upgrade of RW2?)

So true. It was a marketing.
