Lets predict Trainz 2011

Will when they do i hope that they don't put in any old rolling stock or routes.
Brilliant idea. A version of Trainz that doesn't include any legacy content so that you have to own the older versions to use any route on the DLS. They could call it 'Trainz Classics'.

NV3 takeover target!

Bold prediction for 2011:

NV3/Auran will be bought by Electronic Arts, who will in turn sign license agreements with most, if not all, of the major railroads, giving them EXCLUSIVE rights to their rolling stock, motive power and logos, while the other simulators are then either forced out of the market (hello Papyrus and your NASCAR Racing) or pushed into an even tighter niche (hello 2K Sports and All-Pro Football 2k8).

Then when the competition has been eliminated, EA can just sit back and release new versions with no real improvements but really snazzy packaging and marketing.

But all kidding aside, I think the one thing I would LOVE to see incorporated into Trainz 2012 is Dap's Car Movement and Traffic Management system. That IS the other half of the hobby once the railroad is built, right? Operation? Auran's waybill system is weak and nowhere close to how it's really done. I embrace anything that would bring us closer to protypical operation.

That will never happen in a million years!

Anyway, my predictions for 2011 are as follows:

*Optimized for all nVidia & ATI GPU's
*You can place as many SpeedTreez as you want
*Realistic grade crossings, turnouts & track crossings
*Electric locomotives now require live overhead wires to operate
*Locomotives, rolling stock & buildings can now be damaged & destroyed
*Road traffic now has turning wheels, obey traffic signals & stop signs, can be hit by trains & have accidents

Included Routes:

*Marias Pass (Full version)
*Settle & Carlisle (Full Version)
*Classic Cabon City
*Murchison 2
*City & Country USA 3
*Razorback Railway (Expanded)
*Northeast Corridor (Port of MSTS route)
*Toronto Rail Lands 1954
*Test Track (A place to test locomotives & rolling stock)
*Ffestiniog Railway & Welsh Highlands Railway (conjoined route)
*All new routes from TS2010
*New York Subway
*Caltrain (San Francisco-Gilroy)
*Roaring Camp
*Northbay County
*Tidewater Point Rail
*Dermmy's BNSF Clovis Sub

New content:
*Thomas & Friends content courtesy of Sodor Island 3D
*Caltrain F40's, MP36's, Gallery Cars & Bi-level cars
*Roaring Camp locomotives, cars & buildings
*NYCTA cars
*Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland locomotives, cars, buildings & track
*Amtrak & NJ Transit locomotives & cars
*Grand Central Station

What do you think?

What do you think?

I'm only going to snip out the bits that I'm responding to...

*Settle & Carlisle (Full Version)
*Murchison 2

Unlikely, they're too new, and still making too much revenue for those to go built-in. It'd be nice (especially for the S&C signals and the M2 scenery - a lot of routes use their cliff faces..), but I just don't see it happening.

*Test Track (A place to test locomotives & rolling stock)
*Ffestiniog Railway & Welsh Highlands Railway (conjoined route)

Nice ideas on both. FR/WHR would be a nice change from all the standard gauge stuff. And a test route is always useful.

Doubtful, licensing would be nightmarish I suspect, I'm not convinced SI3D is even remotely legal, and HiT would probably object to granting a license to N3V to distribute products made outside of licensed terms.

In addition to what you stated, I'd add that I suspect we'll see EMCL extended somewhat, although I don't know what point they're up to now, I'd like to think they're getting close to Edinburgh :)

Instead of trainz 2011 what about vehiclez 2011 with a an even spread of drivable trains, aircraft, cars and other stuff that come as standard with the game. And it should come with map templates, as in blank maps with only modified terrain and textures for those of us who aren't very good at this. The way that downloaded content is installed should be changed to a FSX like system where you download the file and paste it into an objects folder. soooooooooooo much simpler

Thank you for your valued post to the Trainz Community!

It has been re-viewed and rejected.

Try again

For fun, lets predict Trainz 2011.

I'd say that we will still not be able to change any sound settings, alpha textures will still mess up (check out how spline grass from FMA is visible through other scenery objects placed over), we wont have any quality european routes or rolling stock built-in, the game will definetly not use the PC at it's full capacity, the sky will still look like my bathroom floor and so on and so forth. Oh, and probably we will have those plastic trees called speedtrees... :n: I expected a lot from TS2009 and from TS2010 but nothing esential changed. So...i guess we have to get used to it :)

The ONE thing I desire most in Trainz is better sound!
I really dig (to use a dated term, showing my age :hehe:), the sounds trains make. I would love so much to hear all of them when I drive trains in Trainz.
The sounds we do have are mostly horrendous. That clunky junction sound, the lame click-clack.

I am now using RTS track for the rail sound. It is much better, still not perfect, but unfortunately the lousy points sound still comes through.

I would love to see more efficient code, so that I wouldn't have to buy a new computer just to enjoy Trainz. I'm still running an old P4 (single core) with 533Mhz DDR2 RAM. My video is OK (GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB), but any time I get into a scene that has more than one train, or is complex, I get ridiculously slow FPS. I have done some testing to know that it is my CPU that is the bottleneck, and I think that more efficient code would help.

I'm almost willing to pay for a copy of Railworks 2 just to listen to decent train sounds. Then again, it's still cheaper to go down to the real tracks and listen, record, and watch.

REALISTIC CRASHES!!!!!!
I'll second that one!
I want to create grade xing crash scenes for safety videos.
In addition, it would make the game much more realistic/enjoyable, and I believe it would sell many more copies than without.
It is pathetic that trains and cars can pass thru each other:(

FW

Easier driving from any locomotive. It is very difficult to switch locos, and drive from another one. I would like to be able to put more than one driver in a train, if it has multiple locos.

I could go on, and on... there are sooooo many things that would make Trainz a better game. I suspect that someday we will have what we want, but we will all need s supercomputer to run it!

G'day!

2011 should have more Tassie content! :p Us Tasmanians have kickass trains, except, no one seems to notice. :( We made the first Garratt locomotive! :D

Cheers! :)

Jake.

Trainz 2011 will be Trainz 2010 + Speedtrees + Animated Wheel Slip. One minor change in game, but hey, new feature, new name, new sale! ;)

We made the first Garratt locomotive! :D

Technically, it was purchased ;) K1/2 were build in the UK :)

And K1 is available for Trainz on the DLS as well. There's a version for TS2009 under the username "billegulla" IIRC.

Plus there's a payware set of Abt locomotives IIRC. Unfortunately the M/MA locos are no longer available.

There are also a few diesels (X, V, 830's on 3ft6in, and a few others IIRC).

Certainly a good start :)

Minor bugs and small modifications should be implanted first instead of implanting something big such as "speedtrees" and letting the same bugs. First correct and then add.

G'day!

Just reading through the posts. Most of the new content people want is American. Think about NZ and Australia and other countries who don't have much of their trains in Trainz as they'd like. TS2011 might aswell be an American add on pack for TS2010... There's enough American content as it is I think. :p

Another few ideas from me.

Better partical effects
FIX THE DAMN SOUND!!!

That is all! :D

Cheers! :)

Jake.

I think there should be more Australian content, especially a few more routes and steam locomotives from Australia.

I would like to see, and i'm sure many people would aswell, a New South Wales Route, eg Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands, South Coast Line, or even the Short North or North West NSW.

Also some modern NSW trains, eg Hunter Cars or the OSCar Set

Cheers c38nsw

I predict that they will remove the totally useless Engineers seat (that always gets in the way, even when using -freeintcam).

And will put in a Emergency Brake-Keypad command.

In DCC mode, the apostrophe key (') triggers the emergency brake. How about enabling that same key to work in Cab mode? :D ;)
