Layout Bashing or how to get more enjoyment out of Trianz Model Railroad....

Update: Last night was a loonnnnnnggggg night...I had intended to organize my BN, BNSF, ATSF locos in Surveyor so I could find them easier (about 50 or so units). Changing the config file username so I could find them easier ie: "Loco BNSF SD40-2", "Loco BN SD60 Patched" Baiscally identifying what it is "Loco" then roadname "BN" then type such as "SF40-2" and then adding any comments such as "Patched". Makes it a lot more easier but is very time consuming....so as I was doing the BN, BNSF, ATSF fleet I continued with CSX, NS and Amtrak which took a little over 3 hours to accomplish...........I also decided to fix some assets and seek their missing parts. Good news is a came across some very nice passenger equipment I did not have as seen below:

Top left: NJT GE P40BH (Weathered) and a NJT P40 (New) To their right are 3 NJT Powered cabcars
A NJT GP40 (Weathered) pulling 2 NJT Comet coaches (unpowered)
And finally an Amtrak SW1200 (Weathered) pulling 2 Amfleet Budd coaches

I am quite happy with the weathered models and hope to come across some NJT coaches looking a little more beat up but overall some good additions for passenger service.

Who do you think had those pieces commissioned by them in the first place ???..............:hehe: (Look at my previous pix with them in it and the dates then compare to when it went live on the JR site)
And hopefully they will being do some custom MOW freight cars for me as well.......

Oh... :mop:"That is what I get for missin' staff meetings!" :hehe: WOW!!! You commissioned them! Shoulda' known -LMAO!!! :D Well uh, thanks to you, you and the rest of us can now enjoy the realism they afford on our routes! BTW [heavily belated :hehe: ] the Amtrak MOW looks great on your route! Looking forward to JR possibly doing the custom freight's as well! Thanks again man! :)

(You might've already mentioned in a prior post, but in the future) do you plan to place you route on the DLS; or release it as a payware? :udrool:

Thanks for the compliments and as of now my modified Brazmore Yard V1 (Freight) is due to be released when SP2 hits since it will then be compatible with Tane, right now only TMR17 owners would have access to it. V1 will be free, still working on V2 which has the city and added passenger station. Also playing around with track markers and deciding if I will have any pre-installed.

It's been a crazy past couple of weeks with me finding a lot of assets especially as you can see by my Amtrak/NJT posts not to mention I came across these UP beauties:

Hello Railhead001,

 I have to say your Layout is absolutely great with the all additions, and I have learned lots of new ways to change some boring sections in mine with your intuitive help.

:D I'm also happy to report I bought the new Amtrak MOW Package from JR now I really feel that my Amtrak Fleet is complete with maybe an exception of a few Consists I have yet to acquire.

A lot of folks will truly enjoy Layout once it's released. Bravo Sir. :Y:

Thank you Blue, I will put together some links for you in the next couple days with some more Amtrak finds and NJT if your interested....I also came across these SUNSET SP cars which I think are pretty cool...

Copy that Railhead001,

;) No rush Sir, when you have time...I know you've been busy here!

I've been tearing out/rebuilding Mountains and Miles of Track in my Alps Project, trying to reorient some excessive Grades and bridges at 11.5%..........:'(

Now that BNSF has completed renovations at the Brazemore Yard engine facilities...the executives are preparing for a little tour of the area. Some vintage Business class passenger cars have been brought out for the tour and have just had a thorough power washing (wish I could the same for the loco) while waiting to be attached to loco #6204...

Time for another mini tutorial: So I had purchased a set of BNSF GP38s off the HP Trainz website (Amazing detail) and it had come with a couple of assets. One being a BN sanding tower. Now one of the downsides to modifying a "Payware" layout is that you can not modify the track...basically add/delete or connect industry ready pieces which the above mentioned sand tower was. Not to much of an issue for me but the track color as you will see below was off and this model had no height adjustability where yo can raise or lower it (to hide the tracks). What to do..what to do.......

Above: As you can see above the color with the tower is really way off from the JR weathered Grey which the layout is consisted of.
So first I cloned the tower (control+d) and opened its config file renaming the username section to "Sand Tower Copy". I then found the track kuid that was associated with the tower and replaced it with the JR track kuid number, saved it and finished by using "submit edit".

Above: Left side original , right side modified version

Above: And the finished piece installed with some minor details added...

So the before and after effect is quite pleasing and also a pretty simple change to make. Plus side is I can use the "quick load" command if I desire.

Good news !!!, managed to find the other BNSF Business passenger cars and got the faulty F7A+B units to function by swapping out some kuid files in their config files:

Looks like the execs will be travelling in some style with a pair of F7 units leading the way................

Special note: When installed 2 errors occur regarding the passenger cars: The lounge/dorm car comes up as the same name as the coach450 car and the Business observation car comes up under UP instead of T&M like the rest of the set. Below is the complete F7A+B with 6 passenger cars:

They can be found at: https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20...ainz.weebly.com:80/bnsf-business-express.html
(Chrome browser seems to only download a couple while the MS Edge browser actually worked on all of them.)

What files did you swap out to get the F units to work? I have one each that has missing Kuid in the config file. Thanks.

ah thanks, didn't even know it was the bogies that where bad.

The easiest way to find out is open the config file of the model in question and see if you can match the kuid# to where it is inside the config file. Once you find it then make a clone of the piece and rename it. Now you can experiment with the clone and see your results.

Silly question but on some of the SP and BNSF cars is what appears to be round windows, is that what they are. I know you did not make them but thought you or somebody else might know. Thanks.

I believe they are some type of emblem, definitely not resembling a window on close inspection.....
