Lafarge's Self Discharging Train

Speaking about self discharging, what about that Chinese High speed train that has been proposed that can drop people off at a station without the train even slowing down.

I am pretty sure that most of you are thinking about throwing people out of a moving high speed train because I thought the same thing. Actually how this works is pretty cool... kinda. Basically the people load into a capsule that is on rails above the mainline. The train then comes flying by below the station and the capsule on the top of the train detatches from the train and rolls onto the rails above the tracks while the capsule that is already at the station gets picked up by the the train and carried to the next station.

Makes sense to me. That sounds neat, but I bet they'd have to do a heck of a lot of testing as the possibilities for error could be devestating. Could be so much that goes wrong there, but it could be done. This would really come in handy for lines with frequent stops although for high volume lines it might not be practical (how could you get to your capsule during rush hour?).

self discharge-Trainz?

It looks good what hapens to the conveyor under the trucks when it goes tthru a switch?
As Mr McEnro says "You cant be serious"

Chinese takeaway

This Chinese train is nothing new, BR used to run mail trains that dropped off mail bags and collected them without the train stopping.
I'm sure with a bit of nous we could come up with large sacks with compartments for humans and resurect the old Royal mail system for collection etc.
Might be a bit of a shock to the system being hit by a 100mph train while tied up in a bag lmao.:'(

...oh Ed...you hate change...so...

 LaFarge took over the Tampa, FL port cement exchange long before I left FL.

I think it is now about LaFarge & Blue Circle....

Blue bought North Georgia gravel off Florida Rock Industries in Rome, GA & Dallas, GA.
