Lack of industries, cars, downloads, etc in 2012

You can imagine my surprise when I moved my layout from '06 to '12 & found that there were several things missing & nowhere to be found in 2012 content or DLS. I can go from Hyde Pulp Mill to Paper Mill & from working silos to (?). I installed several Paper Mill processing Bldgs & guessed at how to get pulp from lumber to this location. No wood chip cars. How do I know what to use? A search in CMP found nothing, nor in DLS. I know it's impossible to find a list of paring up of industries & appropriate cars to use, & there's no longer a category section in the Surveyor to find a list of industries..... I did see tracks inside the pulp bldg I used, but it doesn't show the check mark on the screen, which made me think it wouldn't work....When I (?) it, a window opens without the info I thought I'd see. Looking thru the manual didn't help, unless I hit the wrong spots. How did you guys do this? I've gone thru the list of bldgs in Surveyor & most do not show the check mark. Is there a site with this 'change over' info on it? Hey, I'm nearly 69 & want to see this working well, before I can't!!! THANX

Hi Joe: Well I am nearly 76 (in May). I have moved some of my routes and industries from Ts2010 to TS 2012. This works except that I have to go back to 2010 to move some needed dependencies that get left behind. CMP tells me what is missing so I need to import the missing dependencies as CDP,s from 10 to 12. This also gets me a ton of errors to fix and some warnings that can be ignored. TRS2012 dislikes any asset with a build date earlier than 2.7 which includes most of the neat older built-in ones. Perhaps you can do the same with TRS2006 and TC 1&2. Good Luck. I really like the stereo sound in TS2012.

Another solution would be to download some of philskene's excellent routes for TRS10 & 12.They all have many operating industries and the dependencies are included. However, the industries may need to be set up first which entails setting initial and production quantities. I believe phil includes a readme text file with some guidelines.

Thanx for the info. Is there a web site for philskene? I woild be able to see what industries there are along with the cars....maybe. I was able to use the commodity picker for some cars, but trying to drive to empty, & the pulp bldg doesn't even show up so I can do anything with it. 5/17 (Me).

Some one called my name?

and:

"Is there a web site for philskene?" Nope. Just search the Download Station for routes and sessions by "philskene". Make sure you get the TS12 versions.

There are as couple of sessions where all the industries have been configured and appropriate freight cars spotted on the route. See, for example, "DowntownTractionCo TS12 MultiPlayer Session 1".

Under the thumbnail you will find this text:

Industries have been configured to consume and produce commodities. See the jpg files in the folder containing the session for details of the commodities the industries will produce and consume, and the freight cars that can be used to carry the commodities. The folder containing the session can be opened by highlighting the session in Content Manager and then pressing Ctrl-Shift-E. The jpg files can then be printed out. Close the folder and then press Ctrl-R in Content Manager to revert the folder to its original settings.

The map of the route looks like this:

The commodity flows:

And the "Work Sheet":

If you don't want to play multiplayer, edit the Rules to remove the Multiplayer Rule.

You will find similar sessions for my other routes.

If I could get the damn Forum search function working I'd provide links to my posts. But I can't.

Oh my, you have gone above & beyond what I hoped I could find. Can never thank you enough. Enough said about the forum.................From what I've seen in other comments, MANY wish we could go back to the other/better way. Maybe if the bugs get worked out, we could use it as easily as before. Thanx for everything........now if I can get Auran to get my DLS ticket working................(another NEW way of doing things?).

Thanks for your assistance Phil. Once he gets it sorted out, I suspect that Joe and his crew will be working overtime for a while.

Well done Phil you are a great guy

Hi Phil,

well done it feels very heart warming how you help and serve the community.
I try to do it my way but my kind of attempts take a few years before they can be appreciate if any:hehe::hehe::eek:
Anyway april fools day in the west is over and here in Thailand where we live no one has a clue what april fool means maybe because they have this every day not knowing it..

have a great week

Roy;)

If memory serves me correctly, following the content "streamlining" in TS12, N3V placed all the assets (though not the routes) from TS2010 on the DLS. Users requiring these in TS12 simply have to download the ones they need.

I also would like to say thanks to Phil. He has done an outstanding and professional job on all of his routes. With super framerates. And instructions on how to run them.
We used to have a place on this forum to rate the content created by all of our people that work so hard for us all to enjoy this program.
I hope everyone appreciates all of these fine asset creators.
Great job to all of you:)

Bob
