KUIDs Not Showing Up on The DLS?

So is it normal for things on the DLS to not show up in a search of the DLS? I was trying to use a USS bulkhead flatcar (kuid2:98966:1546234:1) and it had 3 missing assets. Looking at the list of dependencies, the 3 kuids had a question mark beside them and were listed as "Unknown Location". I Googled the kuids and couldn't come up with anything other than a few threads here with the same question and people stating that the missing kuids were on the DLS. So I do a kuid search and still nothing comes up. I did around a bit more on Google and determine that the 98966 prefix means that Flamerail was the author of this partcular railcar and of the three missing kuids. So I do a open search of everything Flamerail has on the DLS and there are two of the three missing kuids. So why did they not show up in the dependencies list or in any other search? And before anyone asks, no, I do not have any content restricted on my searches, they are all wide open to all versions, etc. So is this normal to have to search something from several angles before it shows up or am I doing something wrong?

The DLS does not have all of the assets on it, by far ... you have to go to third party sites to get the non-DLS assets.

I understand that, but the problem I had was assets that were actually on the DLS and I eventually downloaded them from the DLS, but they didn't show up in the dependencies list on the CM or in any way that I searched them unless I searched everything made by that particular author. Specifically 98966:50001 and 98966:50002 that would not show up in a search for that kuid, but would show up if I searched everything made by the author Flamerail.

Yes, this is unfortunately normal. When you do a DLS search using Content Manager all you are doing is searching that part of the database that has been downloaded by CM onto your computer, you are not searching the actual database. You are usually best off using the website access to the DLS database and searching that way, remembering to click all of the boxes for the different builds.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the reply. That sort of defeats the purpose of the CM in my opinion, but I think I'm beginning to expect this sort of thing with this program and the company that made it.

I don't normally advise this, but it may be worth doing so: a extended database repair.

It may help bring up the correct information.
