Kuid searchin`!

Afternoon Gents;

I've been trying to get a SP1 + route to work in TS12 (stock). Are the kuids like <kuid:-25:500> Auran's? Are these new, or renumbered kuids for SP1? Is there anyway I can get them without all the patching? I can't seem to find them anywhere. It's not a disaster if I can't get them. It's a rainy day, just thought I'd see if it was possible to get this route working in good old TS12. Thanks for any info.

Cheers....Rick

-25 are Auran and built-in in TS12SP1 so no way of getting them (legally) in any other way then just patching to SP1.

If you want to hang on to build 49922 yet want to play newer routes too, just do a 2nd install of the game and patch that to 58414.

Answer to question 1 - yes, they are N3V KUIDs.

Straight answer to question 2 - no. They are renumbered from pre-SP1 -1, -2 and -3 KUIDs, but it's tricky to find out the original KUIDs without having both SP1 and pre-SP1 available. However, as they are built-ins, they are not available from any other source.

Thanks guys! Yeah, I figured that must be it. The install on THIS machine will have to be my SP1 install. Soooo..... If I download them into a SP1 install, could I then copy from there into a stock install, or at least see what they are, and possibly use the older versions?

Thanks again, fellas......Rick

That should work, yes. Bear in mind that you can have two separate installations of TS12 so you could patch a second copy to SP1 then compare the names and the KUIDs together to find out which they are. However, you may find some that are new to TS12 SP1.

I WAS going to do the SP1 thing, but just can't bring myself to do it. Yes, I'm afraid! For now, I will forget about that route. The more I read in the forums on this, the more I worried about it. My plan was to build my route, that's all I really wanted. I'm kind of in a holding pattern now, waiting on locos and rolling stock. I just got a little bored and wanted to have a look at one of msgsapper's new steam era routes. Thank you guys, sorry to bug ya, for now I'm staying where I am. I can tinker around with my route while I'm waiting for a yard switcher. Downloading routes was never part of my plan, I don't even use the built in routes. Maybe if a new fully updated version comes out, I'll have a go at "sap's stuff".

Thanks guys, sorry for wasting your time when you were kind enough to help me.

Cheers....Rick

Just have two installs. That's what I have been having since SP1 was released.

I have a 49922 install on which I develop and a 58414 (which is SP1 with the hotfixes) on which I play.

You can safely install these next to each other as long as you do so in different folders. I think I got a TS12 and a TS12_b folder.
Yes, it does require you to download things twice if you want to have them in both installs, but since I have a life-time FCT I don't bother about that at all.

I have a number of 2010 versions running on my computer.
No need to download more than once. Just save as CDP and import into the other versions.
Cheers,
Mike

I've been trying to get a SP1 + route to work in TS12 (stock)

It's not the new kuids that is the main problem. It's a waste of time trying to backport a route made in SP1 as SP1 routes are not backwards compatible to pre SP1, due to what appears to be a change in the mapfile.gnd format. The best you will get is a load of assets floating in a blue void. That to me makes SP1 more of a "Next version" than a patch. And yes I spent a day trying to backport a route as a test, making sure there was nothing SP1 specific in the route in SP1 first. Afraid it doesn't work as 3.6 and is the reason I've continued work on my route in 49922 not SP1, that way all TS12 users can use it rather than just SP1 adopters.

Also using two installs, SP1 just for testing what I'm doing in 49922 is OK in SP1.
