KUID Search Format?

I am not clear about the format needed when searching for a specific KUID in the Content Manager. Are the < > symbols needed? Can wildcards or partial KUIDs be used? I have tried various combinations but have not hit one any.

Hi Dick,

KUID searching can be a bit complex depending on method, but there are a few tricks that can help.

For searching using Content Manager, you need to use the < > marks - it's only when using the old 'black pages' version that you do not need these.

If you only have the author part of a KUID, though, you can search for this using Author rather than Asset KUID, then enter # followed by the author's ID if you do not know their username.

To add, if you click the header of the KUID column after searching for author it will sort them in numerical order, easier to find the one you want then.

I've never needed to use the < and > delimiters in CMP; the number-colon-number works on its own.

You know what be an improvement, if both CMP & the DLS would have the same search format. It took me quite a while to figure how to search for author in CMP, not until I had my own content and stumbled on the pound sign did I realize that was needed as a search parameter.

That's the technique I use to see if there's another version of an unknown KUID already on the DLS.
