I would like to here how you go about using your assets when you build do you stock pile your assets or just go search for each one or is there a way to get or print out of a list of assets you might use?
And I have notice in some of the routes, there is a lot of repetition when it comes to texture and trees. I know i can make a section of trees and texture and copy and past it. But the elevation of the pasted area is copied to the area being pasted to. So for get about setting up your trees and texture on one area and moving it to an other if there is any elevation involved. So I think they are using some kind of software to do this. I can't imagine someone sitting there and 500, 000 single trees to a route. Ore they merge the raw route to a cloned route of texture and trees. I haven't tried that, merging the same route over each one several times to get the added assets to the same route without losing or modifying the elevation of the original route. Any ideas. thanks funnnyfarm

Sorry about that a sentance was left out.

I have 3 routes I use 1 for anything par tanning to tracks, the other is everything else and the 3rd is foliage. It took me about a month, but I have been doing that sense 2004. Sorry funnyfarm, I didn't see this thread. I've been driving my route and spending less time in forums unless I have to moderate something!

I use the new pick-list feature in TS2009 and up to keep my commonly used items such as signal, speed limit signs, and other nifty quick-to-the-fingers need it now things. For other items such as trees, I have setup filters to sort by creators. Pofig, Russian Treez (others), Sandrilyon, DES (Dave Snow), Jointed Rail, Ben Dorsey, etc. When I want a building by Dave Snow, I'll open his filter and the content list will only contain his buildings. This speeds up the building process.

I do agree though that it would be nice to have a print-out capability. You can do this manually using Content Manager. I list the dependencies, view in the main list where I highlight the items, I then copy to this to a text file then import it into MS Excel where I can sort it however I want.

Copy and paste can be set up to only paste objects, click on the unwanted paste options to remove them.

If you mark your favourite assets with a certain number of stars then do a search for those assets, select all of them, then right click on one and choose copy to clipboard. You can paste the list into something like notepad, word or excel and you will have a list of asset names and kuid.
