Just love the random corruption in trainz

I'm used to the random changing of switch defaults from left to right etc., but this new one is outstanding. After years, and I mean years. of a stable route it all changed.
Today I've got random terrain height changes at most bridge abutments causing the track to appear underground. An easy fix.

But I am really impressed with the same effect occurring under road bridges where they cross over track. It is a discontinuous height change where it steps across grids I suspect. I can't wait for the next iteration. :hehe:

Just worked out what happened. It seems either Trainz has corrupted itself or N3V has done a ground cover substitution. All my ground cover was flat, 2D at the offending sites. The 'new' ground cover which appeared under my Bridges and at abutments now has a 3D/transparent effect and no amount of Spline height adjustment will get it to mesh properly. 'Smooth Spline Height' tool does not fix it. You can lower the ground height, but this leaves a hole beneath the track. (Need to fix spline height first). The simple way is to overpaint all the offending 3D ground cover with a flat, 2D texture, and it all returns to normal. I love these challenges Trainz throws up periodically.

This sounds like it could be a ground texture issue. A few months back N3V suddenly upgraded several ground textures to PBR textures, which have a height component. There have been a number of threads on this issue.

Here are a few of the most recent.

One solution is to change your Trainz Settings --> Performance --> Shader Quality from High to Standard

But of course, it could be something else. Worth looking at though.
