Discovered the the ATLS system tonight. DL'd the parts and started playing with putting them together. My first level crossing was placed in the session layer and it all worked. The second level crossing was placed in the route layer and ... hey wait a minute, nothing is working!!
Is there a design character to will not allow it to work in the route layer.... bummer.

ATLS is restricted to the session that you made it in. To get round this you can either save all the ATLS data to the map, or setup all the ATLS data in one session first and then clone the session in CM when making new sessions, rather than the conventional method of just creating a new session on Trainz.

To save the ATLS settings to the map, you have to save it in the properties window with the exact name as it is shown to have in the properties window, e.g. ATLS1,1,2X (or something similar). You have to do this for every ATLS asset; every controller, every slave, every traffic signal, every railway signal, every trigger on every single crossing etc

If you have set up the ATLS in edit session then all the settings will return when you re-open the edit session in surveyor. If you opened edit route then the settings are not saved so will not then work. To save the settings to the route you need to name each item of the ATLS assets the same as the code in the top left of the assets properties window. Should look something like this ATLS2[2,2,0] ATLS2 being the channel and the other numbers or letters are the settings.

Trick: Load your map from route page, (dont load session layer). Set up the assets as you want them, then save your route ONLY, this seems to force the game to save the settings to the route layer, not the session.
Works for me anyway ;)
