JointedRail stuff [screenshots/renders]

Don't go it alone...

 Jointed Rail, if you intend a safari to the land of lunacy, let me know if you need a guide...:hehe:

The differences are significant between the SD80 & SD90-H.
  • Placement of the rear sandbox
  • Design of the dynamic brake housing
  • Flat top engine hood on the '80, beveled on the '90
  • Ten doors each side of the 20-cylinder, more than on the '90-H & the SD90/43
  • Class lights
  • Walkway arrangement behind the conductors side of the cab.
Yes, CPRail was interested, but now that would be a fantasy engine saved for later...

now lets get this back on topic before someone gets it closed.

NS37, you mentioned you don't use photoshop. I'm interested in what program you do use for your textures. They're very crisp!

i use an old program called Paint Shop Pro. it has a lot of the same abilities as photoshop, and i can usually pick one up at the local office supply or best buy for $100 when its time to upgrade. i know i should learn photoshop, but i have always been faster in psp, thats what i get for being cheap (more like just too young to have money) when i started. if it wasnt for this program and a beta copy of lightwave, id never be modeling now.

BTW, USLW != Jointed Rail. My home server = me though, so that's a different story.

God I remember that program I had no idea it was still being updated:hehe:

yea i know i know... sometimes i hate to admit thats what i use. i feel like ill get laughed at. results speak for themselves i suppose.

im not the best by any means, and there is always something to learn when making content for trainz or anything else in life.

Why would you get laughed at for using outdated technology if what it is producing is some of the best texturing out there. We should commend you, not mock you.

Cheers

I used to use MSpaint to reskin stuff so I wouldn't feel to bad for still using paint shop pro.If you prefer it and it works for you then its all good.Plus every one of your models is kick *** and they just keep getting better and better. The SD80MAC's are a piece of art !

well its not too outdated, corel still produces a new one every year or so. i do use an outdated version (version 9 by JASC), but it makes psd files, and runs psd scripts and plugins, so its good for me. since corel got hold of it its mostly become a photo processor for one click photo operations and less of a digital art package.

I wasn't laughing at you per se, just that I hadn't heard that name in a while:)

I just thought most of the coral draw stuff and JASC just kind of went by the wayside. Of course I use (or shall we say abuse) Photoshop CS4 and it has way more bells and whistles than I'll ever figure out how to use in my lifetime.

But no, wasn't intending to come off looking like I was laughing at you because I wholeheartedly agree you make some of the best textures in the business.

No shame in the game...

 I bought PS-Pro 9.

When we still had Paint Shed, I manipulated the files in mspaint, but tried to retain the 'weathered' effect.

Had we developed Paint Shed, we would be using it now for free.:hehe: Just stop & think about that...somebody writes the code for layers, banga-botta boom, we have layers! I think it was about who owns the mesh & controls it that a rise of pride in the name of love killed the whole PS project, because no one would make a mesh & tease Helpdesk about how they did it, make skins & upload it to the Download Station besides @whitepass(his cool EMD Detroit Diesel-powered shifter).:(

Adobe & Corel obviously don't aim at the same market. Adobe costs much more because of it's features. Corel aims at an office-type graphics solution. Adobe is used extensively in studio-arts.

By the way, is it actually possible to create what we need using Paint.net or Gimp? What do we have that was created using them?:)

Nevertheless it takes practice, it's not the type of program you use, it comes down to how it is used, how much persistence & determination you have for practice & perfection...;)

guess i ought to post these now.

Well having looked at this one in the screenshots, versus what was just put out in beta by RRMods, you can obviously tell they are not the same mesh. The steps are different the one shown here has diamond plating and the beta does not.

That's one of the major differences that I found so far, besides the fact that I had to use JointedRail's animated fans to even get that beta to work :hehe:

It looks as though the headlights are different as well. Or I should say the bezels.

You may have missed a few. I also use Paint Shop Pro (8), and find it does everything I need it to do.
