Jointed Rail Track Variations

Hey guys,

I've started using USLW's Jointed Rail Track in my project, and I've noticed a couple variations on the original, and had ideas for a couple more.

We currently have:

1. The bright and shiny version. (No settling, new rails, minimal dirt and grease, relatively new rail lines)

2. The Slightly Used Version. (Ties have settled a bit, rails are somewhat worn from use, more dirt and grease, Busy rail lines)

3. The Rusty Version. (Rusty Rails, unused/rarely used rail lines)

I'm wondering if anyone has thought about making other versions, such as:

4. The Heavily Used Version. (Ties have settled well into the ballast, rails are well worn from use, lots of dirt and oil on the track, Very Busy rail lines)

5. The Penn Central Version. (Ties sunk in and/or rotting, rails are severely worn due to years of abuse and neglect, heavy coat of dirt and grime on track, Perfect for Penn Central rail lines)

Cheers,

DJ

railheads that are not used often or have not been used yet are dull and oxidized, and those that are used very often are shiny, not the other way around.

OK, so other than that, I'd still love to see some more worn and heavily-used versions of it, especially the PC version.

HEY! No picking on Pennsy - even if it somewhat true.... :(

+1 ^^^What he said... more use, shinier it gets.

Enjoy a VERY repetitive spline. I would love to beat up more of my creations but at the end of the day a clean spline looks much better that a spline with hundreds of identical defects... just my opinion i guess.

William :)

Mild defects seem ok to me, check out CHN wooden 01/02, it has slightly misaligned ties (sleepers) which you notice up close, but a "normal" distances look ok....

My $0.02

Never heard of/seen CHN wooden before. So I look it up on the DLS = Ocemy.

Enough said. It's GOT to be good, sight unseen. Never seen anything from Ocemy that wasn't great. Now I'll have to download it.

All that really needs to be done for the "worse" versions is to sink the ties into the ballast more, and add more dirt and grease. I'm just looking for a way to have some tracks look old and neglected.

I started using it on my route, but I am concerned about it's poly count, it seems to have much shorter segments then the average track, which if true would mean more polys... :(
