Is there an 'AI using turntables' fix yet?

Turntable

I am uncertain what it is you require. I have found my answers at http://trains.Ocatch.co/tutorial. Using these instructions, I can order a locomotive to go to a turntable, then rotate the table to any position. I am but a nozzer using Trainz, so it might not be the answer you are looking for.

yeah, read all the tuts awhile ago, have em in my favorites folder, unfortunately this wont work in ts12

BJ,

I am using TS09, but I think this will work for you as vandragorax(sp?) updated the MoveTurntable script. OK what I did was downloaded the MoveTurntable and Input Table. Then I opened my route, selected the "Edit Session rules".

1. Then I went to "Driver Command", select Add. On the list select Input table.

2. You now have an Input Table on your list of rules for the session. Select it, select "add", then add a line with

Turntable, your turntable name (mine is Hudsford TT), the number of stops on the TT, (mine has only 2, so you put 2)

Line should look like:

turntable, Hudsford TT, 2

Now go to Driver Command and edit, put a check mark in the Turntable rule for your drivers to use.

That sets you up to set the Dvr Command, this is where I had a problem as my TT would not show, so I added a track marker at each stop and fiddled the length so the loco would stop on the turnable.

Pick your driver , I then selected Drive to Trackmark TT01, used the "Move turnable" to rotate it to position 1, and Bob's your uncle ... it worked. (BTW I added a "Change direction" after the rotation).

It is not perfect but depending on which TT you use it may recognise it, I used the S&C one, I can't figure why it is not recognised, but no big deal.

Hope this will help you,

Regards,

Dave

well, still no luck dave, though you might have had the answer with the updated move turntable command but it keeps giving me the same error

Hello BJ. As an uneducated computer nerd, I can send you, word for word, what I did to get a turntable working. To me, a computer is a box of electric string and I have no knowledge of how to download or manipulate files. If you want it, I'll send it.

Hey all,

I think some of us are misunderstanding Bjay.

What I think he is trying to say is "script error causes turntable to freeze and is there a updated fix to the script yet?" that's what I get in TS2010 when I use it.

After the AI turns it about 7 stops a script error pops up and the turntable just sits there, you also have no control over the locomotive on it.

yes Aaron, this is it exactly, i've heard it works in everything from TS4 up to TS10 but not 12

sorry i wasn't more clear

What I know about Turntables (TRS2010)

They work.

The session must have the input table rule with correct inputs for the turntables. EXAMPLE (for a 12 Position turntable)
"turntable, TCM TurnTable, 24 cp up dn rm"

To run under AI, each turntable sub must connect to track with a buffer (track end) or signal (another track block), AND the sub opposite each stub must also be terminated in the same way (if the opposite sub is not terminated, the AI will not enter the turntable.)

The TM to stop the loco on the turntable must be ON the turntable with the trigger range shortened appropriately (I use 5 meters). Alternatively, a TM can be placed on each turntable stub, and the one OPPOSITE the entry stub can be used (it works, but I find this approach awkward.)

If the TM on the turntable is used, the turntable becomes uni-directional. It is necessary to use the OPPOSITE turntable position in some cases. I find it helpful to name the Approach TMs (to the turntable) with the entry turntable positioin that will be required in the name, EXAMPLE:
"TCMTable[06]" -- Means that a loco entering the turntable from this track must sent a Move Turntable command to set position 6. Once on the turntable, if the loco wants to exit the turntable into an engine bay into TCMRHBay[02] (position 2 on the 12 position turntable) then then the turntable command once on the turntable and stopped must set turntable positiion 14 (2+12). Think of the exit turntable position as the reciprical of the entry one on a compass with only the number of points on the turntable.

I have four turn tables on the T&E. The all work under AI. Two are eight position turntables, and two are 12 position turntables. All four KUIDs are different.
