Is there a way to change keyboard shortcuts in cab mode?

Having finally completed the Cutbank wheat campaign route successfully I'm now focusing on trying to complete the final scenario in the Marias pass approach route but am facing sime challenges right from the start.

I'm most accustomed to operating consists in DCC mode but this scenario defaults to cab mode only & there are far too many controls to manage efficiently via the mouse.I know that there are keyboard shortcuts for cab mode but am not as familiar with them as in DCC mode & would like to be able to reconfigure the shortcuts to be the same as those used in DCC mode.

I'll take a look at the manual & write down the current keyboard shortcuts for now & perhaps practice with them before attempting the route but I'd much rather be able to use the keyboard controls that I'm most familiar with if at all possible.

It depends on the version of Trainz (build number does not matter in relation to this)...

Before TRS2004: I'm not 100% sure. (try the instruction for TRS2004/6)
TRS2004/TRS2006: Have a look in the keyboard.txt file in the Settings folder. (kp means keypad)
After TRS2006: I think it is in the same place as it is for TRS2004/6.

If anyone else is aware of it being elsewhere, please reply to this post.

You could add the Cab Controls HUD rule to the locos in the sessions. This builtin rule provides 5 slider controls in the upper right corner of the display for cab control. To see them, look at any of the three sessions in Tidewater South.

I got it sorted out & was able to run (and finish) the route by going into surveyor,loading the route & changing the properties for driving controls from cab to DCC mode & saved the route with a "2" following the original name so I in effect have two copies of the same route(the original) & the updated version on my list of routes in driver.

Out of all the challenges in the Marias pass approach package this was by far one of the easiest.....it took me forever to complete the wheat campaign but I finally nailed that one last week.

You need to make use of the manual plus online resources...when in doubt, read directions...if all else fails, just ask us...

The keyboard commands for dcc also work cab mode. This is for most Diesel-electric locomotives, but steam? No.

In this particular route the DCC controls aren't available as you don't get the typical pop up which allows you to choose between cab & DCC modes at the start....DCC controls are "<" reverse throttle,">" forward throttle & "?" full stop.

There is a tute in the game for cab mode driving of course but I flunked it miserably....I havn't even tried driving a steam loco yet.
