Is there a Rule/Command

Getting Older :)
Hi everyone,

Is there a rule/command that will show either instructions or messages when triggered. Such as showing an image and comments on a particular area, such as shown in the tutorials.

I have seen this in another layout but thought that since its release I have seen a rule for this. A search of the DLS and content I have does not really give me much help, but then I may be using the wrong words in my Search

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Craig,

Yeah, the only one that I can think of aswell is the Display HTML rule when a train 'trips' a trigger, think you will find that's how they are done in the tutorials.

Which tutorials? It sounds like you're describing Display HTML, but you must know about that one.

Thanks Norm and Aussie (you must have been writing your post as I was replying :D)

I was thinking about the Trainz tutorials and I think RBR uses some as well but that's a bit different.

I'll play more with the one I have that you also mention and see how I go.

Look for the new rule by 'pguy'. It is called 'Timed HTML Display' and it is suited for TRS2004. It is on the DLS and it is much more versatile than the builtin rule. It allows you to put your HTML anywhere on the screen, any size you want and you can control all those factors by using his Session Parameters rule which is also on the DLS.

Search the forum for pguy and you will find a recent thread about it.

That's right. In GameScript you can detect any desired event in a variety of different ways and then use the API functions to do whatever you want to do. AFAIK all this (or most of it) could be put into a rule/command by a programmer skilled in that area.

Thanks Peter and John for the replies.

I will have a play around with the suggestion by Peter, but I do have a question. If I set up all the values to use then upload the layout to the DLS, will my setting then stay the same for those who download the layout?

Thanks for everyones help, more then I thought I would get :hehe:

The values will remain. They are recorded as session variables. The sessions I have worked on have been transferred to several testers by way of file transfers of the sessions and they all seemed to work as designed.

As a quick test, if you make a session using the rules and save it, if the session is loaded again and works then the variable values have been saved.

Cheers
