Is the FREE one month ticket just a con ? !

Hello Trainz people,

Have installed trainz2006 (only 4 years late I know) and updated it to v1.4. All seems to be working so thought I'd have a look at the download selection. Went over to the Auran download page, picked out a couple of trains to download and to see if it was a worker. I was restricted to snail speed but wasn't bothered cos I just let them download while I did other stuff, these worked fine so then I thought I'd activate my FREE one month FIRST CLASS TICKET.......
Picked out a station (Howarth station, cos I live just round the corner) and thought...."great, I'll soon have this 9mb downloaded with my 15mb broadband speed'.... but no. when I start to download via the Content Manager Plus it says.....

'Unable to download, the server appears to be full, please try again later'

Which is weird cos when I downloaded on slow speed (bogstandard ticket) it's fine and server isn't full. So, that's about a weeks FREE days gone. Oh, and I have been trying to download at all different times of the day and night and early morning (4.00am etc)

Is it just a con? Cos if I'd been tempted to purchase a years ticket at £££'s then I would be well pissed off....Mmmmmm


any answers? anybody else found this is annoying?

No, it is not a con. There is usually a delay after you have activated the ticket before it becomes available to use. Don't forget that yesterday was Sunday in OZ, and much as we would like them to, Auran don't work Sundays.

Give it a couple of days, if it still doesn't work contact the help desk.

Cheers for the quick reply (in the time it took me to make a big mug of coffee) I will, like you say, give it a couple more days. You know how it is though: new toys..... :)

A 1 year ticket is the best buy...I get downloading speeds of 375 kbs, as opposed to 3.75 kbs...I have downloaded thousands of railcars per day inside of just one hours time...
Very fast downloading: CaChunk, CaChunk, CaChunk, CaChunk, Mooooooooo !


Don't waste money on a 1 month ticket

You have to go to Planet Auran where you choose to Activate your FCT.

No man, simple fix. Go to your Planet Auran profile (upper left) and reset your password.(it CAN be the same) This will remove the warning. It's a strange glitch, but happens to everyone with a new First-Class ticket.

Afghanistan? Are you "working" there?

Is it a free month or a week?

Last week I purchased Trainz 2010 (download option) and got a week's worth of first class downloads ...

Cheers again for the info from you all. I was just jumping the gun. Downloading now a treat. I'd left the original file in the download section from when I was testing the slow speed (free) download out. I just removed it and selected the file again from the Auran website and it set off with the resounding CaChunk, CaChunk, CaChunk, CaChunk, etc.....
Have downloaded some local stations to remind me of home.....

Millitary ? Anything I can do to help with ... and with Trainz just ask. :cool:

My Horseshoe Curve route has been on temporary hold, ever since I learned of the upcomming unsupport of 04/06 come Sept 1st.

I am downloading each and every US and Canadian loco and railcar, before that time comes. So if you need a particular asset...I might be able to help you find it.

I have a Full Lifetime First Class Ticket,

And I must say it's the best buy ever, I don't have to rush around trying to get every piece of rolling stock from the download station, I can now just dip in and out whenever I want, and get the Locomotive or piece of rolling stock whenever I like. Plus, after the deadline day in September 2010 when items from previous versions of Trainz (UTC,04,06) become obsolete on the download station, you can still access them after you have bought the full lifetime first class ticket.

Thankfully, I don't have to race around saying "Oh, I have only got one day left on my ticket", I can just take my time and download on whatever days I choose, it's like having a model railway shop next door.

The Full Lifetime First Class Ticket lasts about 30 years, so you will definitly get your money's worth out of it, I would recomend anyone who wants one to get one, they speed up the download process, you can download a multitude of items and dependencies in seconds without waiting.

What you're able to do with the Lifetime FCT is the same that I can do with my regular FCT. All that I have to do is renew mine every year. Your purchase may be good for about 30 years (I'm not sure whose lifetime that is), but I can renew mine every year. Who's to say that the DLS will even be around in 30 years, 5 years or even next year. I think I'll pass on the Lifetime ticket.

I'm guessing the free tickets are for new users only, as you registered yours under your existing username you didn't get it (I didn't get one either so that's where my guess comes from)

There was an official Auran statement that IF security issues arrise on and after Sept 1st, the DLS will not be fixed ... I take that as: If you have a FCT IF the 04/06 DLS quits, it will not be fixed.

I doubt that the fact that just having a FCT ticket, gaurantees that the 04/06 DLS will function after Sept 1 st.

Personally I hope it does work after Sept 1 st ... but what exactly does "unsupport" really mean ? I take it as: All uploads will definatly be curtailed, and downloading MAY be cut off for 04/06 users.

We will all find out on Sept 1 st whether it still functions, or not. We will see !

Yet members who brought TRS2004, and had previous versions had a free "first class ticket" included. It was included in my 2004, and I already had UTC.
 
My free week of FCT was automatically activated, as such if you had an active FCT when you bought 2010, you may well not have noticed any difference, since activated FCTs run concurrently.

Of course, you'd probably notice the expired FCT in your tickets list :)
