Actually, there is more content in 2009 than in 2004. However, not all the content will work without error in native mode of 2009. Most everything will work in the "compatability mode" however. Since you have a copy of 09, simply look around at what is included and you will be quite happy with most of the supplied content.

For the content that you have downloaded, you can use cm2 in 2009 to import content from the 2004 local folder if it is not already in 2009.

have fun,

So there is LESS content in 2009, it has to have a "workround" to borrow stuff from 2004, so not much of a benefit is gained from upgrading, because it needs more effort to get the same content working in the old 2004 mode. :p

In the same way that TRS2004 uses content from earlier versions such as UTC especially for scenery objects so TRS2009 can use items from earlier versions so everything that TRS2004 can use TRS2009 can also use in addition it can use TRS2006, TRS2007, TC3 level items as well as TRS2009 native mode items.

Technically there is very little that is totally new in TRS2009 as far as content is concerned a different way of doing lod and that's about it. It prefers not to have blended alpha so most trees don't work in native mode but that's a performance issue and there are substantial performance gains if you don't use it.

Normal mapping for example does work in lower versions but its a little better in TRS2009. Look for normal mapped content, it looks better without adding polys. Start with vinnybarb.

OK take out the scenery objects in TRS2004 that have UTC and earlier version numbers on and what do you have left?

At least it can handle the TC3 and TRS206 / Trs2007 stuff as well.

But 2004 can use the earlier stuff without a "workaround" or the need for a "compatability mode", so is still better than 2009. :p

The question posted wasn't which was best, but whether or not it was possible to use some of the material in 2009....to which the answer is yes....
