Is it me, or are the 2011 posts missing?

Purveyor of the Forgotten
I was searching for a few of my posts from 2011, but I am unable to find them.

Search fails to bring them up... it also fails to bring up ANY posts I made in 2011.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this?

Well, it seems it is not me, others are reporting something similar in the forum bug reporting thread.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I just spent about an hour searching for a post I know I made a few months back with no success. The search only appears to return stuff posted since the forum morphed.

Calling N8PHU - over...

 Go to the third toolbar from the top of this page, Quick Links/Subscribed Threads, you should find all the threads you have posted on since 2006.

Well maybe it works for you but all I get is an empty folder. Still missing 1054 or so. When I reported the "BUG" it only found some 300+ of my posts. Everything between 3 Feb 2012 and 1 Jul 2010 is missing. I end every post with "Bob Pearson" and searching on "Pearson" doesn't find them all either - pathetic. Just tried it again and on the 1st page say 1-25 of 500 so probably 500 limit but the 500 isn't correct because if I step thru the pages it only finds 348 not 500 - another "bug" maybe?

As I've mentioned elsewhere, the search functionality of the newer vBulletin software is notoriously bad. I've seen this exact same issue (as well as others) on other forums with software going back to 3.5.x (about 3-4 years old.) As I've never administered a vBulletin board, I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done to fix this although I may be able to pick some brains if N3V/Auran asks. However, I do believe these entail using third-party scripts and addons, something many admins are loathe to do for a lot of reasons.

If you click on your own Forum name you’ll open your details from the members list. Click on Find latest posts in the left side panel and you’ll get some of your posts, but not all.

I am getting more than 400 posts in that section. It lists everything since the Feb 3rd 2012 Forum restart, plus post from March 2009 until 22 June 2010. However, twenty months worth is not listed for some reason. Others have reported similar difficulties but with different missing time ranges, and even different results to mine when looking at my list.

However, I have found some of my “missing” posts after backtracking through old threads.

Using Google has also found a few more by typing Auran Trainz, my Forum name and a couple of key words.

I’m hoping that nothing has been deleted and it’s just a listing problem that will eventually be sorted out.

They need to fix this issue whatever the cause. This forum without a valid search tool lowers the value of Trainz tremendously.

@ backyard

I never subscribed to any threads so my folder is empty. I used to simply search using posts by user and my username. It would pull up everything I had ever posted in. Now it doesn't even pull a third of the threads I've posted in.

After trying several variations of searches for my own posts in the advanced search, I only get stuff posted since Feb 3. So perhaps the auto indexing tools that these systems tend to use have yet to be run. Maybe it might work better after this weekend.

Try setting 'username' then 'Your last visit' and 'and older' in advanced search. This gave me posts back to 2007. There is no way of knowing if any are missing.

I got the same result but I was only ever searching in Content Creation Support. If I say all forums then I get more but there are many missing. A bit sad really.

No posts are missing, I am investigating what is causing this. My chief suspect is the search index didn't rebuild properly after the upgrade. I will be refreshing this however I will wait till Monday as it is an intensive process and may cause the forums to run slower.
