Invisible Stations

I'm having a problem getting an invisible station that works well for me.
I'm currently using "Invisible Station 50m" which almost works, except that the passenger height is set at 1.1metres (for French platforms) so the passengers have no legs. Also there seems to be no visible unloading of passengers, and the fixed track section is very long so it doesn't work for curved platforms.

Andi06's stations have the problem that the waiting passengers are spread over an enormous distance that doesn't seem to change even when the platform length is changed. Some of the passengers are even off the ends of the platform!

Andi06's Tram stop seems to be the best compromise, the passenger height and position is variable, the trains behave well, and passengers unload visibly. But the waiting passengers are clumped together, which doesn't look right on a railway platform.

Questions, 1, how easy (or hard) is it to make one's own invisible station, and 2, is there any way to remove some of the spread-out passengers in the AJS invisible Station, or spread them out in the Tram Stop?

Thanks,
Mick Berg.

Mick,

Andi06's stations have adjustable parameters for the placement of occupants, as in how speread out, how many on the platforms, etc. His stations can also be adjusted up or down. He has also made some platform splines that match the platforms and attach to them just like the track does. I've used other platform splines as well with good results.

If you want to use some of the other invisible stations you need to adjust splines to cover them. I find the best way to do this is set the spline height at one end and make adjustments so that it looks right. Once that end is set, adjust the other to match the same height.

Making invisible stations, like any other pieces of content, requires a 3D modeling program such as 3D Max and/or GMax. This is out of the scope of this topic, and there are plenty of threads on this subject including links to GMax and tutorials.

Really? I can't see adjustment parameters for those things in the invisible station. I will take a closer look. But some guidance would be appreciated.

Yes, I'm reasonably good with gMax, but I looked at Andi06's 8-platform station gmax example and the accompanying PDF, and it's way beyond my skill level. But I'll look around for tutorials on simpler projects. And again, any pointers to suitable tutorials would be appreciated.
Thanks,

They can be found when clicking on the questionmark in the scenery tab, and then on the station in question. Also make sure you've got all you need, especially the script provided by andi06. Check on his site for a tutorial too.

Happy 2009 from Amsterdam,

Also, for using the stations without track on the invisible stations, I lower them one notch in surveyor so the feet aren't buried in the platform.

Adjustments are carried out in the properties section when you are in surveyor. button next to the raise /lower asset.

Thanks, I was aware of that, but there's no specific "spread-out-ness of passengers" adjustment. But all is OK, I found that "AJS Station 1x50s" works well.
Thanks everyone for their input.

When I did that with the French station, the platforms were way too low for the carriages. It looked all wrong for the UK.
Thanks,

Hi Mick,
The only advice I can give you is to persevere with Andi06's stations. They may seem a bit complicated at first, but once you get into them, you can create any type of station you wish. I found them well worth the time experimenting with them until I got it right,
Cheers
Pete.

Thanks, see above post. I'm happy with the 1x50s station.
