your thoughts on this one is needed

my family and I would like to put their favorite (trs) onto one computer that we now have. each family member have their own game they like: tc1&2, tc 3, trs06 dvd version, trs 04 deluxe. for us we do not see any issues having all of these games on one computer. we had at one point had two games installed on one computer and works fine. now down with one computer we are planning to download all the trs games on one computer the kids games and our games . but we need your thoughts one this.we think it would be ok no game issues and download from dls and cmp should be fine also.

Hi,

I have TRS 2004, 2006, TC3 and TC 2009 (last alpha and the first Beta) on my PC.

2006, Classics and 2009 all use versions of the CMP, so that you download using that software and the downloads automatically find the correct version.

2004 uses the helper, and if you have downloaded to 2006/TC/2009, the Download station selects the last version used. You will need to run the download helper exe file in the "Bin" folder to re-direct into 2004.

Otherwise, I've had no problems will all of these on one PC.

HTH,

Colin

failed to say username & password in forum

we as a family failed to say that each of the games listed in the forum has its own username and password so so only one game will be open and the game that is open should be ok to download content for that game only is that what you mean.

thanks for reply

thanks to all you replied to this it was helpful . but do not understand alpha and beta and also "bin" hope someone can explain this for me

Assuming a default install open the folder

C:\ProgramFiles\Auran\TRS04\Bin

In that folder find the icon for TrainzHelper.exe

Right click the icon

From the pop-up menu Select 'Send to/ Desktop (Create Shortcut)'

Close all windows.

Now whenever you want to download to TRS04 click the shortcut, then click 'Save' in the window that appears. You don't have to enter or change anything, just click 'Save'. Downloads will now go to TRS04.

There is also a neat utility available from Tafweb on this page which will allow you to swap from TRS04 to TRS06 at the click of a mouse button. It works for executing cdps downloaded manually from third party sites or via 'ftp' from the DLS but does not change settings for Helper or CMP.

Hi,

I hope the Captain has helped - I was writing from memory :)

Regarding the 2009 Alpha & Beta -
you have seen that there is a new version of Trainz coming out (TRS 2009)?

Some of us have downloaded the "alpha" version - that's the first one released for testing (using the Greek alphabet - so alpha is the first one)

After a while, the "Beta" was released for testing - that's usually the one before the general sale version.

That allows a lot of users to try out the new version and find lots of things that were ok (or not).

I used it only to show that multiple installations were fine.

I have just released a revised version of CDPSet which not only changes the settings for Helper and CMP but will also work with TRS2009 Beta if you have it installed.
