Installation troubles

When I try to install a certain payware item I get a message sayin that it is not a valid Win32 application. Anybody know what this means?

What are you trying to install?

Not a valid Win32 application means that Windows thinks the file is an executable, and not a data file. It could also mean that the file is corrupted if it is an executable such as an auto-extracting archive, for example.

I'm getting it from World of Trainz, payware. So I'm not sure if its a zip file or cdp. When I click on the link it goes to open w.o.t. page then stops loading. I didn't wanna mention where I got it from cause I don't wanna people to think his stuff don't work. I had the same locos when I had xp but now this windows7 thing is a whole different world, well for me it is anyway. I e-mailed him back but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.

Ideally download it to your desktop, then if a cdp import it using CM, if a zip, unzip it then import it. While your at it make a new folder and put your bought items in it for future disasters.

Ok thanks. I've putting it, along with everything else in my "downloads" folder. I' m having problems with the gatekeeper opening and any other file that I try to open that contains any content from there.

I'm not exactly for sure what it is, but I know it comes with a purchase from World of Trainz. I believe its some kind of security.

now, that is just like steam,,, all screwed up... i been with trainz from the days of a demo,,, over 10 years..... and i only ordered from teh online store.
from day one.....

Yeah thats all I do now but nobody makes any freeware SD75Ms, SD60Ms, SD70MACs, or ES44ACs (HIII) ... that I have found anyway. And with limited access to the dls, I'm not sure what is out there anymore. I have built a coal route based on the Powder River Basin and kinda need these locos to complete the whole thing.

When I try to open the page it says can not open in DOS mode. What is DOS mode?

That usually means the file is corrupt.

You need to re-download the file from wherever it came from, and use a download manager if the file is large.

Ok, thanks. I think what the problem is, is that when I click on the link, it starts to open the page, then within a second or two, something closes it. I'm not sure what is going on here. I've contacted World of Trainz but he hasn't gotten back to me, 2 weeks ago.
