Installation Problem

I have just installed Trainz Simulator 12 on my Windows 7 System.
When I startup I get the initial menu, but when I click on "Start", the screen goes dark and stays that way.
The computer is not frozen because I can go to Control/Alt/Delete to get rid of it.
If I switch to DirectX, the program shuts down on its own as soon as I press "Start".

Welcome to Trainz and to the Trainz forums. We're sorry to hear of your technical difficulties, but before we can help you, it would be helpful if you could post the make, model, and specs of your PC that you are running it on. At the minimum we need the following:

CPU
Video Card
Disk size and free space
Laptop or Tower; and
Operating System

User Shane Turner has created a system profiler which is helpful for this and post the information from the log or screen.

I installed DirectX redist, but I still get the dark screen on OpenGL and the program closes on DirectX. If the simulator detects a problem with DirectX, should I reinstall it now that I have installed DirectX redist?
