I downloaded a shunter into TRS2006 with no dependencies missing and it will not show up although it does list itself including a thumbnail. I went back to ING4Trainz and re-read their statement which follows....

Trainz versions
All ING4Trainz models are for Trainz 2004. Bob the beta tester has tried a lot of the range out in TRS06 and TC3 and they all seem to work OK,with although perhaps some minor config edits in CMP. Filippo in Italy reports that the Hook Norton range also works fine in TRS 2010, again after some minor edits. Nigel in Australia has reported some problems with some models imported into TRS2010, particularly the CDR railcars, so I'll need to eventually get round to sorting them out. See the usual blurb below. I now have TRS04, TRS06, TC3 and TRS2010EE installed.

As it says above....."although perhaps some minor config edits in CMP." Can anyone clue me in on what would have to be changed in CMP? I would love to create my own layout using these beautiful TRS2004 examples.

Hi Harold,

I was able to get some of the locos I downloaded to work properly in TS2009 and TS2010. The config file changes are pretty simple.

View the errors when a red ! appears next to the content.
The errors are listed, and maybe a bit confusing sometimes, but when you open the config file they're straight forward and obvious. One error for example maybe the height and width values for the icon. This is simple as adding a space between height and the value, and width and the value.

To edit the item, RMB (right mouse button) click on the asset. Choose from the contextual menu, Edit in Explorer.

A Windows Explorer window will open. In this folder is the content for the asset such as the texture files, scripts, and the config.txt.

Open the config.txt file, by double-clicking on it with the LMB and find the error. By default Notepad will be the editor of these files. Never, ever edit them in Word or WordPad, which will destroy the file!

Edit the config, save, and then close the Windows Explorer.
Now to use the asset, you need to commit the item back to the database. select the item, and press CTRL+M at the same time. This will perform the function.

If you missed any errors, the item will still have the red ! next to it. If not, only a green triangle will appear meaning it was modified.

I hope this helps. These are great little assets that I plan to use someday on my little narrow gauge railroad I'm working on based on the BRB&L.

Hey John, many thanks,

This is what I have tried so far.....
http://ing4trainz.greateastern.org.uk/ingloco.htm
The 8th one down is a Shunter......I downloaded all 4 kuids....
Then I installed them and found that the horn (kuid:169585:54000) was missing which I found on the Trainz DLS. Once I installed and committed everything it showed that nothing was missing......
When I try to use it in Surveyor, although it is listed including the thumbnail, it will not show when I click on it therefore it cant be used in my layout.

With no dependencies missing there has to be some little thing that has to be done to get this Shunter to show up in TRS2004. I just wish I knew what it was.

This probably means that it's missing something, or one of the dependencies has an error.

I just redownloaded this item, which I had fixed before. I'll go through the errors. Just to make sure, this is the Tea kettle, vertical boiler. At anyrate, I've seen numerous errors of the same in many of these assets.

The shunter its self doesn't have any errors, but it has one warning which can be ignored. However, there are errors in the dependencies.

The giohr shunter front:

Error: The Tag 'giohr_shunter_front.lm.txt' is not permitted within a container of type 'default'.

This error refers to the line giohr_shunter_front.lm.txt, which isn't supposed to be in the config file.

Opening up the config.txt reveals that this line was typed in by the author probably to copy and paste the corresponding name for the mesh.

Simply deleting this line from the config file, fixes the asset.

mesh-table
{
default
{
mesh "giohr_shunter_front_body.im"
giohr_shunter_rear.lm.txt <------- DELETE THIS LINE
anim "anim.kin"
animation-loop-speed 1
auto-create 1
}
}

Save, close Explorer, commit and move on to the next one.

I hope this helps, and feel free to email me if you have any questions.

John, I did as you describe in your post and the Shunter still does not show up in Surveyor in TRS2006 although it is listed. Maybe the author of the Shunter knows how to make it work if it is indeed possible to begin with. I'm going to try downloading something else and see if I can get it to work.

Something is missing from the assets. Have you tried clicking on "view dependencies" in CMP? Whatever is missing will show up there with its kuid #. Good luck.

Evening Harold,
Just downloaded it ,then got the horn off the dls,made sure all items were commited, straight into surveyor and there she sits on the track (after I placed). Now what arn't you doing.
I'm using 2006 which is supposed to be more fussy than 04.

All I can add, is that deleting the line mentioned by JCitron makes it work in TS2010. Have you tried re-downloading it to make sure your original is not corrupt?
