Industry Track

Trainz Luvr since 2004
I've successfully set up several industry tracks and thought I had them figured out for the most part but... now I'm stumped.

I've used BI and BI2 track from pro routes, set production & initial to max. Every time it only fills the 1st five gondolas of the consist and the train comes to a super slow crawl under 1mph. Speed signs are set to 10 mph. The gondolas are configured for limestone just like the track is configured to produce. Any ideas?

Thanks.

P.S.
I hope industry track and waybills are looked at closely in TRS2009. These items are clumsy and hard to follow in TRS2004. I've spent a lot of hours reading the forums, studying tutorials, experimenting in Surveyor, and industry track is still quite difficult to grasp completely. I would like to hear some of the old experienced pros admit there could be a simpler way to approach loading and unloading freight.

When you set up the track did you give it an amount to start with as it only produces so much at a time. The speed is correct as it is controlled by the industry and not speed limits when you load/unload. Only when the task is completed will it revert to the normal speed limit.

I've set the initial setting to max, 9999999 and production to max 999999. I've done the math and it should load many more than 5. Now I've noticed even more odd random behavior. It might skip the 1st car then load the next 2 and all settings are the same.

What about the rolling stock. Will only certain rolling stock work with certain industry track?

The car has to be configured to accept the product, using the "?" button in Surveyor. I have noticed some random weirdness before in 2006 trying to load log cars, and stooped to placed a spacer car between the locomotive and log car, or the tender and log car (if I was using steam). The industry should check each car to see if it can be loaded.

I have noticed some random weirdness before in 2006 ............

I set up a coal train with 5 wagons to unload one wagon at each of five small MIN-based coalyards. The only way I could get it to work was by trial and error, and there was no logic to the numbers I ended up with. I still can't prevent a "leakage" of coal as the train goes from place to place, so I just put it down to petty pilfering by the workmen at the coalyards!
Mick Berg.

Lol! ("Listen guys, if we just take a few lumps of coal out in our pockets each day and place them underneath the phone book at home, we'll be millionaires in a couple hundred thousand years!")

lol Ed...

I have 2 M.I.N based coal dropoff points in a steel mill setup on my layout, I have no problems unloading 30+ wagon trains there, I have even had, if the timing is right, 2 trains unloading at the same time.

I have not tried 'loading' of coal at an M.I.N yet, no need for it on my layout.

After further review...

I got it to work but only by changing direction of the train (loading from the other direction). This industry track is quirky as can be. I spend more time trying to tweak it on my layouts than anything else.

By the way I'm using TRS2004. One thing I thought of is the grade of track. Does anyone know if this will have an effect on loading?
