Industry help

I'm sure I found a piece of track the once that you can setup to any industry you like...much like the 'station basic' track....or did I just dream this ??
I've searched high and low but can't seem to find it now.

I don't know if all the industries are the same but, why is the sawmill so unrealistic ? I mean...the best I can setup is 'produce 1 load every 34 seconds'.....one every 34 seconds ???

Why 34 seconds....who thought that idea up...why can't I change this to 34 minutes if I like ?? I don't believe there's a sawmill in the world that can produce a ton of lumber every 34 seconds...I mean it's not just the wood but...to pack it onto a pallet and forlift it round the back for pickup too.

I currently have two trains pulling 8 flatbeds each which can load 3 lots of lumber per car and they are delivering to a warehouse which is only 3 miles away and yet...the sawmill still produces more lumber than they can manage and the warehouse eats lumber like a starving dog would eat very small pieces of meat.

My route is currently 10 miles in length but I'm aiming for at least 150 miles and I eventually want my trains to have to travel abit...how could I expect my trains to deliver lumber some 60 miles away if they can't cope with 3 ?

I tried another sawmill that produces a little slower(despite being a bigger depot) but, they only except those crappy little orange plastic looking logs rather than the more realistic ones I've gone for. I've just seached DS for another sawmill and found only one that downloaded with 'Unable to load primary texture' error which I don't know how to fix yet.

I'm aware that I could just run my trains at my own pace and have the sawmill always full and the warehouse always empty but, that's not very phototypical is it.

Didn't mean to rant but...my drivers have got to me tonight with all the usual rubbish of 'oh...the light is red but instead of waitng for the line to clear...I'll swap the junction and get a green despite it being a priority 1 and I'm a 2 and leading me nowhere other than to completely block the branch to the passenger service and completely closing down the mainline'

Any help/advice would be very welcome....

Mart, don't worry about it. We all have an occasional rant over the AI behavior. It's part of the Trainz experience, mate. Getting on to an answer now, the industry track you are looking for is Multiple Industry New; this should be built into '06 and above.

For your sawmill, you could use the multi industry, which allows you to set production/consumption values and processing times; or you could look for BI/BI2 Lumber, OR head over to TrainzProRoutes and have a look at their LARS/ProtoLARS system.

Hope the options don't swamp you, and you get a production level that your drivers can handle.

This is brilliant....thanks mate. The original one I found was just the multiple basic, not the 'new' which is so much better and has allowed me to configure this industry perfectly with plenty of scope for when I move the tempory depot's after I lengthen my route.

Only downside is....I can't find a way to display the lumber at trackside and I doubt there's a way to do this but...I can live with that. I'll just throw some random stacks about and build some sort of shed over the track to make believe it's all hidden inside ;)

Thanks for your help Matt...this was just what I needed.

Matr, glad to be of assistance to you. While your placing your stacks of lumber, in an orderly fashion! don't forget to add a forklift or similar, or else how they gunna lift it?

Hehe....I'm a forklift/shovel loader by trade...so I already had that covered ;)

Hi
To place some lumber, you can use "Ind Crane" kuid -1:100869 or use an industry enabled flatbed, configure it to carry lumber, load it and place it on a piece of invisible track. Lower the vertex points so that the lumber just appear on the ground.
Hope this helps

Thanks for this vosloo. The crane does help make things look more believable. I just wish I could get it to show the 'true stock quantity' which is what I origianlly wanted. Like the way the basic station shows the true people count at trackside.

Can the embedded tracks connected to industries (and other structures) be programmed, or re-programmed? For example, I have a very nice grain elevator model that has four embedded industry tracks. But those tracks don't do anything. To use the elevator as an industry I need to use a multiple industry track. I would like to program the embedded tracks, and/or replace them with multiple industry tracks, to make things look more convincing.

Is this covered in an FAQ somewhere?
