Hey Everybody,

Is there a method to import only placemarks from Google-Earth into Trainz2009 and not maps ( see ref below ).

I have read the article - on page 26 of the March 2010 newsletter

Producing Topography Maps For Trainz
Using Google Earth

Thank you.

Received a msg from Auran Helpdesk:

For the moment, it's not possible to import placemarkers from Google-Earth into Trainz2009 or higher.
It may be possible by using 3rd party DEM-programs. 3rd party DEM-programs are not supported by Auran, because the map files are generated outside the Trainz software, and may be not functioning in future editions of Trainz.

You are referring to the publication "Trainz Community News", I guess, not the official Auran/N3V newsletter.

As Helpdesk has told you, there are third party tools around. There are two I am aware of which are capable of placing texture carrier objects automatically: MapMaker and TransDEM, with a different level of automation of the entire workflow. The first is free, the second is payware.

Hello Geophil,

Thank you for your answer. :)
I have read Ian Manion's article in the Trainz community News.
There is still a lot I don't know about Trainz2009. At present, I'm busy with collecting several docs and tutorials. Print all and start reading ( presently more than 1000 pages )

Best regards
