Yes, except I believe that's a Chrysler promotional vehicle, and not an official car. Most of the Chargers I've seen out here in CA have blacked-out rims and other miscellaneous changes, but I suspect this is on a dept. by dept. basis.

FWIW, about 25% of the Crown Vics here in Riverside, CA have been replaced with the new Charger, and it's likely the CHP will follow suit in replacing their aging fleet of chasers.

Do police departments buy Dodge Chargers with Hemi engines? NYC PD got Dodge Chargers and Chevrolet Impalas. I think that they are getting rid of Ford Crown Victorias.

It is a fierce looking car isn't it? You don't wanna mess with it. They have one in GTA IV as the FBI pursuit car (with cool concealed lights).

to the OP: If this is meant to be a modern police car, most forces in North America seem to have pure white with coloured stripes, and often 'POLICE' in huge letters down the side.

You might find this thread of use as it's filled with police car designs from around the world.

Think I'll wait for Leefer to send me some purpose-built pictures.

The photos above and in various forums etc are usually from dramatic angles which are nice but less than ideal for texturing - too much perspective, they show more of one end of the car than the other, don't show all the necessary views of the one vehicle, or they are not of the vehicle type that I want.

Sounds like the Ford Crown Victoria is the one I want though.

I live near to one of the convenient routes to several police training facilities in my area and can usually count on seeing several cruisers on any given day. The Black and White scheme here in Maine seems limited to local departments. It is usually black on the hood, trunk and related fenders with a white cabin area, although I have seen a few in the reverse scheme.
As to the other colors, the various county sheriff departments run solid colors, white being most prominent for some odd reason. The state Police have a solid light to medium blue color, however the pick-up trucks used by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement troop were a medium to dark blue. The Dept. of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (game wardens) as well as the state Forrest Service use dark green pick-ups. Unmarked vehicles seem to be any solid color.
In terms of the make and model, Ford Crown Victoria and Chevrolet Impalas seem to dominate the cars. However when it comes to the pick-up trucks Dodge was the preference for about the last decade with Fords starting to replace them in the past couple years.
I hope this helps, my other suggestion is to look at news clips from the area you want to model as they are probably one of the quickest ways to see a good range of cars from different departments.

I could probably obtain photos of out local forces; however non use the B&W scheme. Working at the ER we get all the cops coming thru.

There's a black & white here in Cairns. It has special approval to be used in festivals etc, but the guy can drive it on the street any time. All the red and blue lights have been replaced with yellow, other than that it's the real mccoy. It has Sheriff on the side instead of police but it looks great. I saw it again only yesterday so if you want pics, I'll go into town with my camera and take them for you. The owner will probably be more than happy to obilge. let me know. It's a ford of some sort.

In my town they are blue and white now, but I'm pretty sure I've seen the black and whites still running around in Los Angeles and or Beverly Hills. Though they may not be the style you wish to have like those from the television series "Adam 12" of which you might be able to google up Adam 12 and or Kent McCord, Adam 12 and see if you can come up with enough photos to do what you want.

Hope it helps.

The black and white scheme disappeared in the late 60's.
Ah, but it's coming back. I've seen some B&W cars in my town. Problem is taking photos.
I don't think just anyone can walk around in the police yard taking photos. You might end up on the inside of the car instead<g>
