Iguodala Metro

What is that? A sidewalk on both sides of the road. How amazing.

Why are there so many train tracks? Because it's a rail yard and there needs to be space for the storing of hundreds and maybe a couple thousand pieces of rolling stock that terminates, originates and transfers railroads in this city and this yard is the best place to do such a thing.

Why are there so many mainline tracks? It's to handle the large number of freight and passenger trains that traverse this route on a daily basis.

Why are there only one type of tree here? It's a Sycamore tree so yes to an extent there's one type of tree but if you look closely, then you'll be able to see that there's variants of that tree species.

In the military we call that Barney Style. Hopefully you'll be able to understand now Cascade, if it's still not clear, then I'll continue to elaborate until it's so clear, that it's classified as High Definition. Good day to you.

For one thing, a high speed four lane road that has no parking spaces next to the sidewalk, nor any parking meters ... where are all these people who work in the busy metropolis of Iguodala going to park, or pull over ? Not every building has their own parking lot. There should be a shoulder on both sides of the road, so deliveries can be made, and so people can be picked up and dropped off in taxis ad buss's. In the back of buildings, most (in the real world) do not merely drop off into a golf course of two toned grass, that extends to infinity. There are driveways, alleys for trash and garbage truck pick-up, and merchandise delivery trucks, and walkways between buildings, not just grass. The station has no long term parking facility, and alot of buildings that are all so similar are grouped together, looking far too symmetrical (all the same style, looks out of place). We try to help you, and point out these flaws, so you can detail your route(s) and video's. But it just looks like big buildings and things are just plopped down in a city park ... and that is not the way the world is, nor looks.

Cascade, it appears you're the lone survivor of the giving-advice-to-Kris species. Without fail, once more he has somehow managed to rebut all of your suggestions (in the real world we call that stubbornness), I'm not sure why you even try anymore when everyone else has given up. Any more such advice-giving will probably only lead to High Definition argument.

The reason I don't take screenshots of my own route(s), is as it is no where near complete, nor detailed enough, to display an unfinished WIP, to show it off to the public.

I'm putting myself on my own ignore list

Ok I see now.

Start over again is what I'm gonna have to do. As far a shoulders go, I'll have to really do some work on that as I don't know if there's a road that's in detail like that. Also that's not a four lane highway, it's a regular road. I'll show you the difference between the yarn roads and highways.

So you're saying I shouldn't either?
I am just trying to imagine a city with 2 parallel roads with buildings on it. I mean its not particular hard to make a nice metropolis, there are plenty of screenshots of peoples different way to design a city. The urban screenshot thread is the perfect example of how to build cities. But I am sure you wont listen or actually improve this advice.

Do you have Modula City? Look at that, you'll get an idea for how to make a sprawing Metropolis. Or even just go out and have a look at real cities, find photo's etc. No need to give up, just keep trying. At least you're getting feedback. If you show a bunch of screenshots and get no feedback, that's when you should worry.

Kris94, I think you need to learn how to handle criticism. You can't always view someone's critical remarks as harmful, because they usually aren't. We're simply pointing things we see in your route design that you may not have noticed, small suggestions that will make the finished product look even better than any one of us could produce on our own. The whole point of posting WIP screenshots here, aside from showing off the beauty of what you've already done, is to solicit advice and critique from the community, so you can push the limits of your own creative abilities. So don't lash out against constructive criticism; learn from it.

That is not to say that all criticism is helpful. You should also be able to distinguish the supporters from the trolls, and avoid feeding the latter.

Those brickstone houses are going to be a problem especially for a 1950s era route. They won't look that great on any route. On the flip side, the HP houses are too current for a 1950s route and the fact the cars are more modern that are attached to the driveway. Don't know what to do for that.

Are you kidding? The houses look fine and the distance away from the tracks mean no one will notice unless they go looking

Which houses? The brick or HP houses? They may mean nothing but I remembr Cascade saying something about the brick houses looking like an Army post and unrealistic. The distance is good, I'll give you that. Just from previous posts it looked bad from others point of view. Another one was repetition but I was and still m confused on that note but it's old and no longer there so I guess it doesn't mean anything now.
